Accommodations not as described - Poor management, Parking issue
We prepaid for this unit for the entire month of January. We were hopeful that this would be the perfect unit for listing grandparents in their late 70's who were visiting from Chicago and spending an extended stay in California. The listing highlights a personal parking space in a carport dedicated to the unit - perfect for a couple in their 70's. Upon check-in on January 1st, another car was parked in the VRBO unit's parking space and had a note left on the windshield indicating that the owner was out of the country and the car would be in the parking spot until the 22nd. After communicating with the VRBO unit's property manager multiple times about the issue, no solution was offered other than to park on the street. The property manager explained that the owner of the VRBO unit did not want to upset the neighbors by towing their vehicle and we as renters for the month were left without the parking space we prepaid for. In lieu of the personal parking space, a $x per day credit was initially offered (while the property manager, owner and HOA figured out a better solution), then the offer was reduced to 20% less, finally we were informed that all the property manager was approved to offer was a total amount (equal to 30% less per day than the original) for the 22 days that we did not have access to the "personal parking space". The refund was to be processed on 1/22, and we finally received the payment on 2/3. We have opened a case with VRBO regarding this frustrating and disappointing experience. I would NOT rent this property.
