The house was exactly as pictured, and Mike was very organized. He clearly set his expectations of how the house should be used and the condition it should be left in. He also provided detailed information about the home which was helpful.
If not for providing me an expired gate access code, and the thermostats constantly resetting themselves while I was in the house, I would never have needed to contact him after executing the contract.
Why the four stars? The climate control. Beautiful house or not, the climate control issue made us very uncomfortable. Mike made it crystal clear he didn't want the thermostats set below 74, and being from the north east I was uncomfortable about this, but I accepted the limitation because of what a nice house it was, and the special considerations of air conditioning a house in 115 degree weather. Set to 74 with the fans always on would have been on the edge of my comfort zone, but with the fans set to auto and the thermostats constantly resetting it was most uncomfortable. I got heat rashes, waking up sweating in the middle of the night, from the thermostat resetting themselves to 79 the first couple of nights, and my guests also complained about not being able to sleep even after the problem was supposedly resolved, because the upstairs thermostat kept resetting itself to 76 in the middle of the night for most of the stay.
The problem was the thermostats were remotely monitored and controlled, and Mike didn't seem to have a handle on exactly how to disable the scheduling setback feature. There was also no way to disable this locally. I immediately let Mike know of the problem, and he was responsive and sympathetic (to his credit), but it took him time just to mitigate the issue (the thermostats kept changing, albeit less frequently/extremely then when we moved in).
Again: beautiful house, nice neighborhood, very organized owner. Just make sure he has the auto thermostat control issue under control, and if you are going during the high heat of summer like I did -- set the fan setting on both thermostats to ON to maintain air circulation in the house.
