Grauenhafte Zimmer!

Es handelt sich um ein uraltes Hotel direkt am Strand von Destin. Die Hotelhalle/Lobby macht einen guten, frisch renovierten Eindruck. Dieser änderte sich beim Betreten des Zimmers. Dieses war alt und die Decke übersät mit schwarzem Schimmel! Auf unsere Beschwerde hin erhileten wir ein anderes Zimmer, wo zumindest der Schimmel nur noch deutlich reduziert vorhanden war. Allerdings war alles verrostet und die billigen Plastikstühle auf dem Balkon total verdreckt! Wohlfühlen ist anders! Der Frühstücksraum hatte den Charme einer Bahnhofshalle, unsere Frühstückscoupons wurden erst auf Nachfrage herausgegeben. In der riesigen Hotelhalle befanden sich ebenfalls eine ungemütliche Bar und - das Hallenbad und der Whirlpool! Empfehlung: Lieber ein neues, sauberes Motel etwas vom Strand entfernt, als dieses "Strandresort"!

Overpriced--a few pros, many cons

This hotel was overpriced for what you get. The positives were that it is directly on the beach, has a nice outdoor pool, and the beds were comfortable. However, the hotel lobby decor was exceedingly tacky (pirate manequins, a treasure chest, and fake plastic plants hanging everywhere). The hotel was also in need of basic maintenance--there were water stains on the ceiling in the lobby, air vents were full of dust, rust on some structures. The hot tub was in the middle of the lobby and in plain view from the indoor restaurant and the indoor pool was the size of a bath tub. The balcony in our room overlooked a parking lot. The hotel is in need of a good remodel and there is a lot of construction going on. I just felt like we were paying for all these upgrades we weren't able to enjoy.

perfect for families!!!

We go to Destin every year and have done so for at least the past 5 years. This time, we decided to try somewhere new and stayed at this holiday inn. I cannot stop raving about it to family and friends, especially those with kids! First, its literally two steps off the beach--just walk through the sliding door and down the boardwalk and you're there. Second, for kids they have sooo many activities during the peak season. My girls got their faces painted and painted sand dollars. Third, each day 3-6, all you can eat popcorn and ice cream.... perfect for an afternoon snack after a day on the beach! For breakfast and dinner, if you eat at their restaurant, kids eat free with each adult meal. They also have the sandbar, which sells burgers, hot dogs, fries, frozen drinks, soda, beer, etc. AND you can order right on the deck and eat at a table with umbrella right off the beach! It was perfect because we never had to go back to the room for lunch, if we didn't want to take a break. We'd eat and walk right back down to the beach. The outdoor pool is huge, and there is a kiddie pool for toddlers. They also have an indoor pool and hot tub. Unlimited DVD rentals from their kiosks...which was perfect for the few rainy days we encountered and it has the latest movies! Our room was very clean and tidy, we were so close to all the best places to eat and attractions, and the staff was awesome! It was well worth the money and a great value!

This hotel had everything you would need right there on the premise. You had a cafe to eat breakfast and lunch. Free popcorn and ice cream and an upstairs area for the kids. The best thing about the hotel was the you could walk out your room to the beach.

Very nice hotel and staff

From the time we walked in the check-in people were very friendly and explained things that were going on during our stay. Very kid friendly and had something going on everyday for the kids. Very nice and friendly staff willing to help you in anyway. Loved being right on the beach and able to walk down stairs to it. The only problem i had was with housekeeping. They came at 845 first morning and we were still in bed. The next day cleaned while we were out but after that they didnt get our room cleaned utnil we were back in room and i just told them to forget it. didnt get cleaned for 2 days. overall would def stay there again.

Location, location, location

The location of this hotel is its strength! It is right on the beach which is fantastic! Most of the staff around the hotel was friendly, but the friendliness of the staff at the front desk was hit or miss. Beware that If you book a room with "breakfast included" you will only recieve TWO vouchers for adults in your room. All other adults need to pay. The breakfast is mediocre and they didn't tell us that juices are NOT included and you will be charged extra. The property itself is very dated and in need of maintenance. Also the WIFI connections are not good. We were told to move around our room to find a better connection. The hotel is very kid friendly and they DO have a great kids program for families with young children. We did enjoy the daily afternoon ice cream and popcorn! This property will be remodeled this winter and the plans for the pool area looked fantastic! Until then you are really paying to enjoy the beautiful beach.

Holy Kidzone Batman!

Had no idea this was the place to be if vacationing with children. Probably the most kid-centric hotel I've ever scene outside of a theme park. Free popcorn, face painting, dancing, hula hoops, limbo and karaoke for kids in the afternoon and evenings. Unfortunately, I wasn't travelling with children. They are closing at the end of Summer for a big pool and hotel renovation.

bad smell in room

My room was very expensive and not comfortable. Also when I was unpacking there was a very bad odor coming from the drawer chest which smelled like something had died previously in there.

Last minute hotel

Holiday inn was ok, check- in and check-out was very slow, they need more than 2 clerks with they new from 3-4pm was when it was there check-in time! Especially when it was peak season. Clerks were nice and did there best. Check-out time was also slow with only one clerk. Not her fault. View from 802 was good, if you didn't look down at the AC units. Noisy on the balcony. Partial view of ocean and main drag. Close to Big kahuna water park. Pizza Hut across the street. Breakfast buffet, ok but not great. Not a couples place!! Set up for young Kids and family. Very loud during day with people everywhere. Couples stay away during summer breaks. Had free movie rentals. Main reaturants just west of location. Beaches very crowded and small. If you want better food and quieter beach stay father west in destin-fort Walton! But over all, family with kids stay there!! You can let your kids run wild and still feel they are safe.

Convenient location

The staff at the front desk were not as friendly as I expected them to be. My room was not ready until 30 minutes after the designated check-in time and the staff did not seem eager to assist me into getting into the room in a timely manner. Shortly after entering my room I noticed the toilet was not working properly. However maintenance personnel were very quick about fixing the problem and got my toilet working properly. The breakfast buffet each morning was very nice having a big variety to satisfy most anyone and the activities for the children that were planned daily we're also very nice. The complementary DVD rentals where impressive. The hotel is at a nice location, very convenient and right on the beach.

Wonderful hotel, great staff, on the beach, and loved the afternoon free ice cream. Best hotel we've stayed at in Destin. Will return.

This hotel was great for families. It had lots to do for kids! The beach was beautiful and the pools were nice! The hotel is close to restaurants and wal-mart.
