The space
Smoking, vaping, and open flames are not allowed within 5 meters of the Bell Tents. BBQs are permitted in designated areas only. Bins will be provided for all guests. Please note, no amplified music is allowed between 10pm and 7am. The campsite is a quiet zone from 11pm onwards to ensure a peaceful environment for all.
Set in a tree-dotted field on the peaceful Drum Estate, Edinburgh Festival Glamping is a rural retreat that’s particularly popular among artists and festival-goers attending August’s world-acclaimed arts jamborees in Edinburgh. Accommodation is in spacious bell tents (sleeping up to five guests) with all bedding supplied, so you can move straight in, get unpacked and soon be watching performances at venues throughout the city.
And of course this quiet spot is not just for festival fans; at 10 minutes’ drive (or 25 minutes by bus) south-east from the centre of Edinburgh, it’s a budget-friendly choice that’s handy for anyone wanting to see the sights of Auld Reekie or simply craving a relaxing countryside break.
On site you can expect convenient amenities like secure parking, shower rooms and a dedicated chill-out zone equipped with a bar, barbecue area, gaming stations and charging points. Staying at the glampsite also allows you access to walking trails on the Drum Estate.
A range of takeaways, cafés and shops – from traditional Scottish pubs to artisan bakeries – are within 10 minutes’ drive of your pitch, and there’s a convenience store five minutes away if you’re looking for a quick top up on supplies.
Other things to note
If you’re visiting Edinburgh for the festival season, you’re just a short trip (10 minutes’ drive) from all the action of the Fringe, the mainstream International Festival and the Royal Military Tattoo. Take the bus (25 minutes by public transport) if you don’t want the hassle of parking before watching world-renowned concerts, stand-up comedy, reviews and street theatre at venues all over the city centre.
While you’re in Edinburgh, be sure to visit the landmark castle to learn about Scotland’s rich history. Afterwards browse whisky and tartan shops along the Royal Mile, take a guided tour of the Palace of Holyroodhouse or climb the volcanic plug of Arthur’s Seat for dramatic views over the city to the Firth of Forth.
When the weather’s good, hit the beach at Cramond (40 minutes) or Portobello (20 minutes), or have a stroll along the Water of Leith to check out the outstanding architecture of riverside Dean Village (40 minutes). Golfers will be happy that there are several courses within 20 minutes’ drive, and walkers can follow scenic hikes in the Pentland Hills (40 minutes).
