Before you head to the mountains to visit this beautiful area, please understand this is really the mountains! Mountain roads - both state and private - will be steeper, narrower, and curvier than you may be used to driving. As a local once said, "Consider it part of our rural mountain charm." To that you need to know this includes the journey to Bear Walk as the drive up through the community is a single lane road accommodating 2-way traffic. Please feel free to reach out to us with questions to understand the drive before you book. It's highly recommended that you arrive for the first night during daylight to be aware of your surroundings.
Please note: One nuance to the region is that ladybugs are seasonal and when the temperatures drop, they do find their way into most homes. We do strive to keep our home very clean and remove them when they enter. However, we have no way to completely stop them. So, if you are uncomfortable with ladybugs, please consider what time of year you plan to visit western North Carolina. Refunds aren't issued for ladybug visits.
