Overall, we had a pretty good stay and enjoyed the location. The cabin was adequate for the price, but left some to be desired. Pros: Toddy Pond is lovely and very quiet - it allows motor boats, but in the week we were there we naver saw more than one boat out at a time. We were able to do a lot of fishing in our canoe without worry of being tipped. The beach was very nice and worked out well for our 5 yr old with the sandy shallows. While the cabin was in a rural location, it is within 15-20 min of any desired shopping, and 45 min to MDI. The cabin was clean, the living space comfortable with plenty of seating. The kitchen was well equipped for any cooking/baking you desire. Chip was very pleasant, as were other neighbors we met.
Cons: The photos made it seem like the dock is right off the yard of this cabin, however it is actually off of a neighbor's cabin - it is still very close, but you don't have private dock access. The beach is about a 5 min walk from the cabin and is part of the neighborhood association .There are no dogs allowed at the rental, however there were several dogs around, and always off-leash. They were all friendly, but my mom is fearful of dogs, so this made her very nervous to be outside without myself or my husband. While the listing does not list TV, the photos show one in the LR - there is not a TV, so the photos should be updated. The bedding set-up is nice, but the beds themselves are pretty old - the "king" is actually 2 twins connected and covered with a lumpy mattress topper - the twins are very springy. There seems to be an electrical issue - probably not enough amperage - hot water is made by an on-demand electric water heater... When showering we found that we had to turn off almost all of the lights in the cabin in order to not trip the water heater breaker (if it trips you get immediately iced!), even doing this you only get about 6 minutes of hot water before tripping the breaker. The lighting in the kitchen is 3 florecsent 'work space' units that dim terribly when washing dishes (hot water issue) and are inadequate when it's dark out. The shower door is almost impossible to close completely.
We did inform Chip of our issues and hope he will be bale to fix them for future guests.
