Dear Frank, we are sorry for the inconvenience that we brought upon you. We do apologize for the wrong impression that we gave to you, as I also mentioned on the phone, it never happened before that the guest waited more than 15 minutes, which is also rarity because there is always somebody on duty. So I kindly asked if you can wait 15 minutes and if I don't reach the owners in that time, we will return your money back, but you refused this option. Unfortunately our reservation system failed on that day and we did not see your reservation three hours before your arrival, that is the reason why the central heating was not on. Mainly due to the current pandemic situation, especially during the off-season, occupancy is 80% less than during the main season. The room was not occupied for a longer period and this may be the reason behind the smell, although we never noticed it before. Shame you didn’t mention the point with the bed sheets to the personnel during your check out, as you were complaining about the wrong position of electrical sockets and the quality of the bed and we already explained that is a good quality specially made for tourist accommodation meaning we tried to choose a medium category, neither too hard nor too soft. I have personally experienced, that for the same mattress guests claim is either too hard or too soft. We have been opened since 2011 and expedia shows all comments for the last two years, it seems your experiance with us was an exception. The answer to your question who categorizes objects in Croatia: Department of Tourism in each county, in this case Zadar County according to the rules from ministry of tourism. After that, the employees of the tourism department go out and inspect the apartment / house / room and assign you a decision on the categorization of the facility. A parking lot was and will always be for free in Villa Diana Zadar. Hope we will have an other opportunity to show you our better side. For the next time we would definitely recommend you to book a superior double room or even deluxe apartment with balcony. Kindest regards Diana
