Sehr günstige und zentrale Unterkunft. Freundliches Personal an der Rezeption. Einrichtung der Unterkunft allerdings sehr alt und bereits runtergekommen. Zudem gab es eine Zentralheizung welche sich nicht abschalten ließ und nachts ununterbrochen auf extrem hoher Stufe lief, es wurde unerträglich warm.

Die Lage ist ausgezeichnet, mitten im Zentrum, öffentliche Verkehrsmittel vor der Tür. Gemessen am Alter des Hotels sind die Zimmer ok, obwohl deutliche Abnutzungsspuren nicht zu übersehen sind. Wir waren im Abstand von drei Wochen jeweils zwei Nächte dort, das erste Mal ein doch sehr kleines Zimmer mit Fenster zum Innenhof, über der Abluftanlage eines Restaurants. Beim zweiten Besuch schönes Zimmer zur Strasse, grösser, sauberer und ein besseres Bett. Übrigens ein sehr guter und zuvorkommender Service beim Ein und auschecken und den üblichen Tour Fragen. Insgesamt jedoch für das Geld in Downtown SF eine gute Wahl. Wir würden wiederkommen.

We stayed at the Union Square Plaza Hotel for 12 nights. With expedia click and mix, the price was a great deal, so we had no expectations. The room was quite big for San Francisco, it even had room for two big suitcases and hangers for our clothes. The Furniture was old but ok, everything was clean and room service showed up every day to change the towels and clean the bathroom. Our room was facing Geary Street with a theatre on the other side of the road. We had no problems with noises at night, sirens and people screaming or making music is just normal for a city of that size. ;-) The front desk was occupied 24/7, very nice staff! After checking-out on the last day, we could leave our suitcases at the hotel until leaving for the airport which was quite comfortable. I would choose Union Square Plaza Hotel again!

Gute Lage, Zimmer aus den 50'er
Gute Lage, jedoch sind die Zimmer aus den 50'er und müssten dringendst renoviert werden. Löcher im Teppich, Vorhänden, Dusche, etc. Antike Möbel, Matratzen mit Sprungfedern (wusste gar nicht das es sowas noch gibt). Sehr lauter Straßenlärm bis 3-4 Uhr morgens.

Lage super, Zustand fragwürdig...
Hotel in einem allgemein schlechtem Zustand und in die Jahre gekommen Standard vergleichbar mit schlechterem deutschen Hostel. Dringend notwendig wären Austausch von Teppich und Matratzen. Zimmer riechen schlecht (daran ändert auch leider der Dufterfrischer nichts) und sowohl im Bett als auch im Bad fanden sich Spuren der vorherigen Bewohner. Gut, dass wir unser Desinfektionsspray dabei hatten, welches wir großzügig verwendet haben. Wohl gefühlt haben wir uns während der drei Nächte trotzdem nie und waren wirklich nur zum schlafen im Zimmer. Positiv ist defintiv die zentrale Lage, kurze Wege zur Marketstreet mit guter Anbindung an den öffentlichen Nahverkehr. Unser Zimmer zum Innenhof war ruhig gelegen, sodass wir immer mit offenem Fenster schlafen konnten. Insgesamt ist der Preis für ein Hotel in dieser Gegend zwar vergleichsweise günstig, allerdings für den gebotenen Standard meines Erachtens völlig überteuert. Hätte gerne mal einen Vergleich mit den umliegenden Hostels gemacht, um zu schauen, ob diese wirklich so viel schlechter sind. Bei Hotelübernachtung kann man im nahegelegenden Parkhaus zu guten Sonderkonditionen sein Auto abstellen.

Lage sehr innenstadtnah und laut (das wird immer in SF so sein), aber super Anbindung an öffentliche Verkehrsmittel und Cable Car, mit daily pass von 17 $ kommt man überall hin. Verpflegung kein Problem, mehrere Restaurants und Diners direkt um die Ecke. Man muss nur abends aufpassen wo man hingeht, das aber ebenfalls um den Union Square nichts ungewöhliches.

Das Hotel hat eine gute Downtownlage. Allerdings ist es schon sehr in die Jahre gekommen. Die Sauberkeit lässt sehr zu wünschen übrig. In den Gängen riecht es sehr stark. Parkplätze hat das Hotel keine, um d Ecke sind Parkhäuser (ca. 32 Dollar für 24h). Gegenüber vom Hotel ist ein sehr gutes Diner. Vom Hotel aus seid ihr in 45 min zu Fuß an der Wharf.

Für Städtetripp sehr gut gelegenes Hotel Nähe Union Square und Market Street. Saubere Zimmer mit eigenem Bad mit sehr einfacher Ausstattung. Belebtes Umfeld jenseits der Mason Street. Kein Frühstück aber viele Restaurants in direkter Nähe.

Stayed from 3/25 to 3/30 2024. Room had mice and cockroaches. We called Expedia for help, they could not help us. I ask for refund and was told no refund. Rug and floor had a big hole in them. Window was very dangerous opens all the way down to floor almost and straight out , do not stay here if you have small children they can fall out of this window no screens. No grab bars in bathtub very slick and uneven. Room was wet the entire stay. Water running down windows, and we felt damp whole stay. They do NOT have washcloths. And they do not put clean towels in rooms, you must go down to front desk to ask for towels. There is no night person at desk so if you have emergency you are on your own. Beds so uncomfortable, and very small. My granddaughter and I are small people and almost couldn't fit in the bed. No latch on the door, light shows under the door and around the door at night so door doesn't fit well.. The ONLY good thing about this place was the day desk clerk he was amazing, and a joy to talk to and work with in whatever we needed. Hostels are near by, transportation is near by, Dave's Deli is just to the right of the front of the Front Door , it is a WONDERFUL place to eat. We didn't have a car so not sure about parking. The noise at night from the street 6 floors below us was pretty crazy, people screaming and playing horns, but we didn't mind that part. Expedia has never been so uncaring when I use them, but this time they didn't even care. Never again.

We do not tolerate false reviews such as yours as you stayed 6 nights two reservations and had not any issues during your stay until you complain on your check out. We had pest control inspect the room and there was no such activity. We will mark this as guest misconduct and please do not ever book with us ever again for staying 6 nights and have the guts to be up a false reviews. If the hotel was not to your liking they it took you 6 days of stay to complain regarding towels and , tub etc. We hope Expedia will mark this as guest misconduct and let be on there record so other hotels can see this.

Cost Stay in the City
I stayed for a weekend with my girlfriend and we loved our stay. This is our favorite hotel in SF. It’s not the fanciest or anything but it gives home vibes. It’s comfortable, affordable, staff is friendly and it’s a good location. Many places to eat and drink are within walking distance. If you wanna really stay close in the city for a solid price this is a great option.

Amazing location just 3 minute walk to Union square but had construction all night but still able to sleep. The fan was broken and it was hot in the room we hesitated to leave the window open because of the construction noise but had to because it so got with the windows closed, but everything else was good

Located on Geary Street, one block away from Union Square and the Powell Street cable car. The Union Square Plaza Hotel is directly opposite 2 of San Francisco's historic live theatres, the Geary Theatre & and adjacent Curran Theatre. Although this part of downtown, known as the Tenderloin is not swanky, it does contain many exclusive shops on Union Square and its surrounding streets and also on Market Street. The big problem in 2023 is the homeless and drug addiction to be found in the area, but coming from a big city like London, England, it didn't faze me at all and I just tended to ignore my immediate surroundings when I exited the hotel. The hotel is over 100-years old, and is not luxurious, but it is homely and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I had a front room facing the street on the 7th floor and was not disturbed by the occasional noise on the street below (again I am used to it in London). The room was a nice size and clean. I enjoyed my 9 nights stay and would recommend the Union Square Plaza Hotel for its location and reasonable price for a city center hotel. It will certainly be my place to stay on future visits to San Francisco.

It’s what you expect from hotels in this area. i understand i get what i paid for, but my only gripe is room wasn’t high dusted very well. handful of people like me get bad allergies or asthma triggers in dusty rooms. other than dust, room is ok standard and good location to get around.

There was no air conditioning so I opened the window and a loud machine became louder. However, there was a fan in the room. The room and hotel was convenient and relatively inexpensive for me. I recommend it for those reasons.

The property is not fancy, but if you just want a place to sleep it's fine and clean. It is right in the neighborhood where many tour companies begin their tours so is convenient in this manner. The only downside to the area is the very expensive cost of restaurants.
