Dear Martin Fink, Thank you so much for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. We Thank you for your criticism, as it is the only way we can better ourselves and our beautiful Guest House. I would just like to note though, that you stayed for one night on 08/11/2017, and arrived late in the afternoon, we are not a 24 hour Hotel so I apologize that you felt the STAFF let you down, but the cleaning STAFF shifts ends at 17:00 and there is always a manager on-site 24 hours a day. I would also just like to put your mind at ease, that I as the manager of the Guest House is not just a caretaker, I am a qualified Hospitality manager with over 8 years experience and the service and standards I provide showcase that. Houghton View is proud to associate itself as one of the top accommodation providers in Cape Town, and our awards and reviews across the board for service excellence reflect that I do apologize that you felt you where let down but unfortunately it is of my personal opinion that you did not stay long enough to negatively review us on the items listed, especially taking into consideration you arrived late afternoon and departed early morning. Dear Phillip. Thank you so much for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. You have however failed to mention that during your stay we were busy maintaning our property, painting and fixing a couple of things and this might have given the impression that the property was dirty as there was a lot of dust around because of the sanding etc. I do apologize about this but it had to be done as we set ourselves a very high standard and we need to uphold this by doing regular maintenance. This is also not something that would have been done if the management was poor or the owner absent as you have mentioned. We have also recently spent a very large amount of money changing furniture in all the rooms to not only refresh the rooms but to enhance all our guest experiences. Again this would not have been done if management was poor as you have mentioned. Art is also a matter of personal taste as we do have artwork, although you did not like if we have been commended but numerous guests for our artwork in the past. Unfortunately I believe that because your booking was last minute and you could only book our very last room at a very good rate and you did not get one of our more Exclusive rooms, you based you review on that on not your actual experience.

Dear Filipa Allen. Thank you so much for your review. I though it necessary to point out your entire stay in my response. This way guests can see what actually happened during your stay and make an informed decision when the want to book with us. Upon your arrival you requested a room upgrade, unfortunately we were fully booked and by the way you reacted when we informed you we were fully booked I knew that this will set the tone for your stay. We never have any objection for upgrading guests if we have availability but you were clearly unhappy that we couldn't offer you an upgrade and this definitely was the major contributor to your review. As for the photos, we have gone through the photos on each platform we advertise on and the photos on each platform is 100% accurate to what is in the room, your claim that the photos is not what you get therefor holds no ground. We have an honesty Bar which you made use of. I have checked your bill and see that you have paid for 8 bottles of water. I cant understand why you mention that there were no bottled water if you consumed water and paid for it. Never has any guest that stayed with us had to drink from the tap unless they chose to. The claim that there was no-one at breakfast is also not possible as breakfast starts 08:00 am sharp. We sign in via a bio-metric system and are thus forced to be here by 08:00. Unless you came down before 08:00 there is no way that there could not have been anyone during breakfast. The day you are mentioning that we didn't have enough space at the pool is correct but not entirely. When you came down we already had 6 guests making use of the pool. I informed you that I will personally see to it that I get more pool loungers. We went above and beyond to borrow two more loungers at a competitor property and we put this out at the pool for you without any hesitation.
