I booked Secrets Playa Mujeres for my anniversary, expecting luxury. Instead, I got a 4-day construction zone with broken amenities. We paid for a swim-out room but couldn't use it once. Maintenance and management admitted the heating system was broken due to a recent reopening. It never worked. Even the public hot tubs were brick-cold; watching staff stick thermometers into freezing water while we waited was a joke.
After complaining, we were moved to a new room only to be woken by loud construction—drilling and banging on concrete right by the Preferred lounge. The showerhead was also broken, and despite reporting it, no one cared.
Worst of all, this was our anniversary. I saw doors decorated with “Just Married” or “Happy Birthday” ribbons, but we received zero recognition. It felt incredibly alienating to be ignored while others were celebrated.
The “All-Inclusive” dining is a myth. They open restaurants based on guest volume to save money. I could only access 3 out of 9 options because the rest were shuttered. To top it off, the staff felt biased and unwelcoming, making the atmosphere uncomfortable.
Bottom Line: Between the freezing pools, construction noise, closed restaurants, and the lack of basic hospitality, this was a total waste of money. They are cutting corners at the guest's expense. Avoid this resort if you actually want what you paid for.
