The property is listed as pay at property on Expedia. A few days before, the host contacted me demanding payment in advance. I stated that i was not comfortable paying before arriving, and that they were listed as pay at property. They conveniently waited until the cancellation period had passed to demand payment, so if i cancelled i would get charged in full regardless.
When i contacted Expedia about this, the host threatened to cancel our booking immediately resulting in a full charge if we did not pay immediately. We ended up paying and hoping for the best.
Once we arrived, the host again asked for additional payment stating it was the city tax. Not a problem paying city tax as this is the norm, but it was charged in full on the previous payment. Only once i sent screenshots etc, did the property say we do not owe. If i had not sent back proof, they would have charged an additional €36 and likely not have said a thing. Very unorganized and poor communication.
The location can be difficult to get to via bus, but a great little osteria just downstairs.
The front door and gate were often unlocked fully almost every time we arrived back.
The room is much smaller than advertised and the bathroom door hits the toilet everytime. Very cramped.
Overall, the experience left a bad taste and we would not stay here again nor recommend it to others.
