The hotel is really recommended, the staff was very friendly. Only the fact that the booked breakfast wasn't offered in the hotel, was very disappointed.

Kein Komfort
Das Zimmer war winzig. Obwohl wir nur mit zwei Kabinnenkoffern angereist sind, hat es keinen Platz um sie geöffnet abzustellen. Das Wasser in der Dusche am Morgen war kalt. Das Hotel bietet kein Frühstück an. Das Zimmer wurde nicht gemacht. Der Preis ist viel zu hoch.

tolle Lage - leider SEHR laut!
Sehr freundliches Personal, super Lage, wunderschönes Badezimmer, gute Klimaanlage! - das deluxe Doppelzimmer war leider SEHR klein, das Bett ebenso. Unserem Wunsch nach einem rückseitigen Zimmer wurde leider nicht entsprochen- angeblich bei geschlossenem Fesnster nicht laut. Dem war aber nicht so - ein Pub befindet sich gleich nebenan, ebenso die Bushaltestelle vor dem Hotel - es war SEHR laut auch bei geschlossenem Fenster. Würden deshalb dieses Hotel nicht empfehlen.

Hotel im Stadtzentrum
Das Hotel ist im Zentrum der Stadt, wir hatten ein Delux Zimmer gebucht . Es war sehr klein. Delux Fehlanzeige. Die Betten waren gut . Das Badezimmer war das Highlight, man konnte sich nicht gerade auf die Toilette setzen, sie war in einer Ecke vor einer Wand . Das Personal war nicht gerade freundlich. Einen Frühstücksraum gibt es nicht ! Es gibt ja alles auf der Straße, so das Hotel !!! Das Hotel ist eine Servicewüste !!! Das Hotel sagt von sich es hätte 5 Sterne, wir sind der Meinung 3 sind genug . Für uns war es eine Enttäuschung 200€ die Nacht

Due to our bookings the only room that we had was the twin room which you stayed in. You were offered to return to the accessible room, however declined. Stadthotel in Oxford
Leider ging aus meinen Reiseunterlagen nicht hervor, dass ich ein Zimmer ohne Fenster gebucht hatte. Wir fühlten uns wie in einer Innenkabine eines Kreuzfahrtschiffes, auch was die geringe Größe des Zimmers anging. Das Zimmer war neu eingerichtet und sehr sauber. Das Doppelbett mit einer Breite von 140;cm war uns persönlich leider viel zu klein. Bedingt durch das offene Treppenhaus war unser Zimmer sehr hellhörig. Es konnten alle Gespräche an der Rezeption mitgehört werden, ebenso hörte man alle ankommenden und abgehenden Aufzugsfahrten. Leider ist mein Englisch nicht gut genug, um mit dem Personal über meine Kritikpunkte zu diskutieren.

The George Street Hotel has extremely well appointed and clean rooms, but we were disappointed that our Deluxe Double room was so tiny and cramped. My husband, who is tall but not large, had trouble negotiating in the tiny en-suite bathroom. The Window shade was broken, unable to be raised, when we arrived. This was fixed the second day of our 2 night stay. The location is perfect for getting your bearings in Oxford, and the staff were all friendly. As this was our first visit to Oxford, I can’t compare it to other accommodations.

This is a great hotel option right in the heart of Oxford. The street around it is a bit busy and slightly grimy, but once you step into the downstairs entrance to the hotel you feel safe, comfortable, and everything was fresh and tidy. Our room was on the backside so we had no street noise issues. The room exceeded my expectations for the cost in its charm and features. This is a great option for a midrange priced hotel! I would definitely stay here again.

Poor accommodation
Although the e enjoyed central location this was as very poor hotel. Room were tiny and outdated - in need of refurb. Staff were friendly but not prompt or efficient with service - I was waiting 15 mins for even an an only I was waiting to check in as the only member of staff was on the phone. Room temperature could not be controlled in room and it was too warm.

Misrepresents itself as luxury but its basic
The first thing to understand is that it's NOT the luxury experience it presents itself as. They tried to put us in a lower ground floor room (which I wasn't even aware was possible), so I had to pay for an 'upgrade', which made it the same price as the Randolf down the street, which IS a luxury experience. The staff were friendly, and the room was fine. Just miffed at the misrepresentation. I will only stay again if there are no other options.

Welcoming hotel in a great spot
We booked 2 nights but separately (the extra night was a nice surprise treat when when childcare plans changed). This meant we needed to check out after our first night and swap rooms. Not a problem for us - staff were very helpful & stored our luggage whilst we went out for the day. On coming back to check in again we found that the lovely staff had placed our bags in our new room ready for us which was a nice surprise! 1st room had a window & was on the 1st floor. Bit of noise from the pub which we expected but it ended fairly early and we still slept well. 2nd room had no window & I actually preferred this. Very cosy and snug. Beds & pillows are very comfortable, bathroom was spotless and the shower had good pressure & easy to control temperature. The hotel was directly opposite the theatre we came to Oxford for and so close to many restaurants, pubs & museums. It really is ideally placed if you like to be in the thick of things like we do.

Overpriced for what the hotel had to offer - i.e. no bar/ restaurant/ room service. The hotel could do with some new windows too as the drafts and noise from outside was ridiculous. Appreciate it's a central location but single glazing didn't really help.

I had a really lovely stay at the George Street Hotel. Staff were so helpful, my Deluxe Double room was beautiful, well equipped and spotlessly clean - and so quiet considering the hotel is right in the heart of Oxford. I would thoroughly recommend staying here if you are visiting Oxford by train and wish to be convenient for the Colleges, shopping and nightlife.
