This was our second stay at this property. The other was in 2019 when it was a Holiday Inn Express. It's an older hotel in need of some updating, but it's clean, in a great location for my time in that part of LA and has comfy beds. Water pressure in showers never seems to be great in Cali. I've had better, I've had worse. It is what it is. The towels are great.
Let's start with if you're of a certain age and not used to streaming things from your phone or tablet to a television, you're not going to have reception. Yep! They've cut the cord. Be prepared prior to your stay.
That brings us to the next quirk. WiFi. They realize it's not always great, and have even taken steps to boost it in a couple of areas that have been known to have issues. It's been successful for the most part, but if you are opting for a kitchenette (the "20" rooms, 120, 220, etc have those) like I did, you're in an area of the building where that may be an issue. Microwave and refrigerator or WiFi...flip a coin. It wasn't always an issue, but I think when there is a large load on the system (and with everyone streaming on various devices throughout the property, one can see how there can be a factor, especially in the evenings and mornings) it was a bit problematic at times. For whatever reason, we were able to stream directly from the HBO Max app with less buffering issues than our DirecTV app, and it worked better from the phone than the tablet. Again, just a quirky thing and not a deal breaker.
