Rooms never made up, only one lift working, which took ages, room warm and stuffy, interior falling apart. The electronic key card did not work on three occasions in the space of four days. No apologirs. Always queues at reception. Afternoon tea a joke and noisy guests in the corridors transporting fast food and cans of beer throughout. Disgusting smells though the whole hotel never a smile from the staff who seemed generally demotivated and washed out.

Schlimme sanitäre Einrichtungen
Haben eine Nacht im Hotel verbracht, obwohl wir wussten, dass das Hotel schlechte Bewertungen hat!! Das Hotel ist an sich sehr schön, wirkt im Eingangsbereich wie in einem Grand Hotel. Es hat einen gewissen Charme, leider ist dieser sehr eingestaubt. Wunderschöne Kronleuchter, aber sehr staubig,im Frühstücksraum waren die Stühle vollgeschmattert mit irgendetwas. Die Krönung war jedoch das Bad in unserem Zimmer , wusste gar nicht, dass es so etwas noch gibt. Solche sanitäre Einrichtungen habe ich Mitte der 90 Jahre in Thailand noch erlebt, aber dort für 5 Dollar die Nacht! Toiletten allgemein sind in diesem Hotel ein Problem , Sauberkeit wird hier nicht groß geschrieben!! Würde dieses Hotel nur empfehlen, wenn es bessere sanitäre Einrichtungen erhält und im allgemeinen mehr auf Sauberkeit geachtet wird. Wollte gerade ein paar Fotos hochladen, geht hier leider nicht, warum auch immer 😕

The Adelphi is an historic hotel, once very grand, now somewhat faded. Rooms on the upper floors (we were on the 4th) are lightly modernised (some original fittings from 1914; no aircon) and rooms lower down are said to be more modern. The public areas, particularly the main lounge, are very pretty, with original Art-Deco themes. The rooms are quiet if the windows overlook the central well of the hotel, possibly noisy if they overlook the street (open windows needed for ventilation). The location in the city centre, about 250m from Lime Street station, is very useful. It's clean enough and comfortable enough, but vastly overpriced for what you get, considering that breakfast and WIFI in the room are additional to the base price. It's a 3-star hotel at best asking 4-star prices.

There were no shower available in our room 401 and both bathrooms for both rooms are dirty and disgusting. This is the worst ever hotel we have booked and stayed through expedia. Expensive amd Nauseated. I would never ever recommend this hotel to friends and family. I could not stay for another night at Adelphi hotel. Luckily it was too late at night to look for another place to stay because we are all tired and exhausted. I hope expedia would remove this hotel from their list. Its degrading your good company name.

Our first room had a non-functioning washroom, but thankfully we were easily able to change. The staff were very friendly. It's a beautiful old building, it just needs some TLC.

Classic hotel with grand lounge. High ceilinged spacious rooms with good shower and plenty of hot water. Bar and breakfast on site. Close to noisy night life. Narrow beds with uncomfortable mattresses. Staff pleasant and helpful and quickly responded to requests for more linens.

We arrived and parking was important to us and satisfactory. Reception was quiet and they persuaded us to take a special offer of dinner, some free drinks and breakfast, only available at time of check in. We arranged to meet a friend in the American bar where we watched three security guards trying to persuade a local addict to put on his shoes and leave, he was finally manhandled away. As told we went to the Restaurant at 6pm to find it closed and went back at 7 when a waitress told us it was closed that evening. Annoyed we complained and a Manager informed us we could get a snack in an extremely crowded and ultra noisy bar. This was not what we had planned for our guest, we did however get some shoddy fish &chips. The room was acceptable. Generally a very poor experience particularly at the price we paid.

The toilets were disgusting and smelly. This hotel needs an overhaul. Fantastic building. Even the communal areas aren’t bad but the rooms are terrible. Mattresses uncomfortable windows need replacing.

This is a Large older hotel with fittings etc in line with its age the Hotel is well located for both main train stations and shopping despite a number of previous reviews that scored the hotel very low I enjoyed my stay my room was clean comfortable and provided you with everything you needed from nice clean towels and complimentary toiletries and a Flat screen TV. I arrived at night (1am) and found a group of people outside the hotel smoking weed. I pressed the night bell and the door was opened by other waiting guests. During check in the clerk said my hotel room number unnecessarily loud while other people were present. This made me feel quite unsafe. There was no safety lock on the door which is really worrying. As I entered the hotel room it smelled of dust and ‘old’. The room seemed clean overall. The bathroom sink was very cracked. During the night there was eery banging. Positives: There is a kettle and tea provided in the room. There’s complementary bathroom soap, shampoo, shower gel and lotion. Check out is very quick and easy.

The smell from the public toilets on the ground floor was awful most days on the last day there was excrement on the bathroom floor. I also had blood on my bathroom floor and I felt unsafe walking on the 4th floor. Doors slamming and screaming at 2 am not pleasant . Although I paid for Wi-Fi I could get no signal in my room on the 4th floor. There was some dodgy characters around in the foyer and my friend got a fright when someone grabbed her from behind . It was her first time in the Uk . On a positive note the towels were white and fluffy and the bedding clean although the mattress was uncomfortable but they are refurbishing so perhaps it will improve . The staff must be indicated with complaints that must be horrible for them . I felt they are probably doing their best . The room only gets cleaned in between guests . I sadly won’t go again .
