I had a milestone birthday getaway with four other ladies here at the cottage we affectionately called Mud Puddle. For three of us, it was our first time visiting Martha's Vineyard. We had a *wonderful* time. The cottage had plenty of space for the five of us. I brought two folding chairs so we could all sit at the dining room table together with a guest. The beach/nautical decor was very tasteful, with the blue paint and the polished oars as wall hangings and as the stair railing fondly noted. When it got hot, we were able to use the fans available in many of the rooms. The cottage also had plenty of windows for light and cross-breeze. The kitchen was a popular place. We cooked three full meals using the utensils, dishes, and even a few spices we found. The coffeepot did not work for us, so we boiled water in a pot for tea every day and were just fine. We left some vinegar and seasonings behind for the next guests so they could make a salad dressing like we did! One of my cousins walked into town to pick up some food and enjoyed her journey. It was less than a mile one way. Our neighbors were great, one child even coming to our rescue by getting his chickens out of the road so we could pass by. My only minor disappointment was the lack of curb appeal. When we pulled up and saw the tall grass and weeds, we were concerned about what might be lurking in them. So once my friends saw some wild turkeys in the back and a skunk crawl under the deck, it was difficult to get anyone outside to enjoy the backyard. I know the owner said he'd been on vacation for a few weeks, so that would explain it. But again, once we were inside, the cottage was immaculate and just what we needed for our restful getaway. Two of us used the outside shower, which was an amazing experience! All in all I highly recommend this property on Mud Puddle for fond memories. I want to thank the owner for remaining in touch with me from when I originally reserved this for 2020 and postponed my visit due to the pandemic. This was worth the wait.
