Our team stayed here for the Sea Otter Classic, and it was the perfect location and size for our group! The spacious kitchen and living room with a pool table was great for spending time with the team, and there were plenty of beds (including the bunks in the back house) for everyone.
We had a group of 20, including 10 kids. Th is place was perfect, the kids had a blast visiting the ponies, feeding the donkey etc.
The house had a lot of things for kids to play and the pool was so much fun. We loved our stay!
Thank you.
The ranch was spacious and clean, and it was well stocked on appliances and kitchenware. The hosts were incredibly responsive. We really enjoyed the amount of space the main house had, and it was fun to walk around the ranch as well! The full beds in bunkhouses outside were nice, but the lofted beds and bunk beds are definitely made for smaller children. Just keep that in mind if you’re planning to have any larger people sleep out there.
Wow wow wow!!! We had a group of friends from around the US stay at the Barlocker Ranch. Many friends were from major cities and were blown away by the location and beauty of the ranch. All of the amenities were amazing and will definitely be coming back!
We had a wonderful family reunion at this home. The place is large, with a main home and a bunk house that the kids loved. We also enjoyed the huge kitchen and deck (with a built in BBQ) as well as the heated pool!
We had a fun experience with our large group of family and friends! It is a great place that accommodates large groups of family/friends gathering together. The kids loved all the animals on the property.
We had a small family reunion here for 2 nights. The main house is nice and spacious, very clean and functional. The bunkhouse is located upstairs and some of the beds are in the loft, up a ladder. Beds were very comfy. Pool is nice, unfortunately it was too cold for us to enjoy. Lots of games and just a beautiful, peaceful property to enjoy family time.
Our family of 18 people had a great time at Margaret’s ranch. We brought a lot of food and the kitchen are well equipped to meet all our cooking needs. Margaret and Rosa were very responsive to our requests and text. The location of ranch is very convenient for daytime hiking to pinnacle NP and point lobos state park. I highly recommended Margaret’s ranch.
Margaret was a wonderful host! Barlocker’s Ranch is warm, clean, spacious and super comfy. We loved the ranch animals, Felipe the mini donkey was a character, Russel the ranch cat was super friendly and 14 - 8 week old puppies were a huge hit with the little ones. Samantha, Ed and Cheryl were super helpful. We had the main house, bunkhouse and the cottage, plenty of space for everyone. I highly recommend Barlockers Ranch. Thank you all for a wonderful stay!
I brought a group of 16 teenage boys and 3 adult teachers to the property for a 4 day yearbook camp to plan for the upcoming school year. The property was perfect for us - plenty of rooms, beds, indoor and outdoor meeting spaces. One slight issue was wi-fi but with 19 people trying to access internet to work, that is to be expected. Thanks for having us - would definitely consider returning next year.
Our family gathered in CA for a wedding at Big Sur and a family reunion. We were seven siblings getting together after 49 years along with our children and cousins. The ranch was an ideal setting. The property managers were immediately on hand to answer questions and talk to us about the ranch. The kids and adults loved the horses and Felipe the donkey and his antics. A fantastic kitchen was enjoyed by all especially my Chec son! Thank You and we hope to come again
My husband and I, four grown and married children, and 13 grandchildren stayed in this amazing space for a family reunion. There was plenty of room for everyone. To my surprise, everyone especially loved the pool table, which was always being used by someone. Our last day there, a bracket was set up and a tournament ensued. The younger grandchildren never wanted to leave the pool, and also loved the visiting cat and finding frogs at night. The outside areas were beautiful and there was plenty of seating for everyone. The location of the home was private and quiet. We LOVED our time spent at the Barlocker Ranch!
This property was every bit as nice as the other reviewer said and had a lot more to offer! There were 20 of us and we never felt crowded, not even close. No fighting over bathrooms because each had a toilet, sink, and shower. If I did have one complaint it's that the jacuzzi is quite small, so don't go there for a group jacuzzi experience haha. The swimming pool was fantastic and warm. More appliances pots and pans then you will need and the variety is also more than you need.Lastly, Russell the cat lives in the area, so if you have cat allergies you should discuss with the host. Russell is exceedingly friendly, but always trying to get into the house. If he happens to make it in he's quite easy to remove. He's a great cat. The host was able to handle each request in a very timely matter which I greatly appreciated!I believe the overall value of staying at this property is excellent.
The Barlockers ranch was a great environment and felt quite large / roomy for our group of 7 adults and 3 children. It is great how each bedroom has its own bathroom. The pool and the hot tub were amazing and well-maintained! The ranch feels surrounded by nature with expansive views of fields and hills from most of the outside areas and birds inhabiting the yard greenery and hawks soaring overhead. There was easy access to Monterey and Pinnacles National Park which we visited. The two downsides of the ranch house were 1) an unreliable waterheater, and 2) unreliable internet- frequently crashing / unavailable during attempts to stream video-- this may be a side effect of the internet setup for the large house but was quite frustrating when trying to watch anything. For the waterheater, the hosts and property manager were very responsive to work on fixing it but it did fail twice and hopefully can get definitely fixed soon. Labels on switches and some appliances would be helpful- for example we were told at check in that a stand-up freezer in the kitchen was a second fridge and then we ruined/froze some lettuce in there. There were quite a bit of spiders in the bunkhouse and one of our group got a large spider bite while sleeping- combatting the spiders in the bunkhouse more would be nice.
My family stayed at this property for 5 days at the end of Sept, 2023.
Overall, this is a beautiful property with lots of amenities. The great things about this property are the spacious family rooms where we could all be together for meals & hang out time. We had 1 toddler with us who loved visiting the animals. The kitchen is amazing with tons of space and a great cooking area. The beds were comfortable and linens clean.
As with any property, it came with a few challenges. The check-in process wasn’t great, felt rushed, and many things were overlooked. We didn’t know there were separate keys to the bunkhouse. We also didn’t know how to operate the stove, though we figured it out after about an hour. The hot tub didn’t work and never got above 91° even after 2 days of running it. This was frustrating.
There were a couple misses with the property, and also a couple misses on our family’s part, but overall it was fine, and everyone enjoyed their stay.
I would recommend labeling switches, labeling the fridge & freezer (they look the same), and perhaps even creating a house binder as how to operate things or get into different places. My husband, who was the “check writer,” will be emailing the owner directly with additional feedback.
Margaret, the owner, was wonderful to interact with, extremely generous with allowing the use of extra chairs (even though we ended up not needing them), and calls to her were answered/returned very quickly.
This should have been a perfect review but the owner double booked us.We paid extra for a 2 bd/1 bth cottage 4 months in advance for 3 nights. Some point after, another renter came in w/ a 31-day booking during our time and was accepted.
The property is in a beautiful setting w/ gorgeous views. There's wonderful animals everywhere. ED WAS AWESOME! The main house is perfect for a large group. We orig had 26 (inc 3 children under 5) and 1 didnt show up-a elderly handicap with a service dog. (Service dogs are not allowed in the main house, so not having the cottage would have been a serious issue.) The kitchen and dining rm are large. The outdoor kitchen was nice and the patio is large. The bunk houses are not made for adults w/ the exception of 2 king beds. The bunks are for kids or very short/small adults. The owner did advise of this which was our reason for booking the cottage.I talked w/ the owner multiple times during the 4 months prior. She stated she forgot to write down our dates and did all she could to get the other renter to move; however, she did not tell us any of this until the day before our rental. We were stuck. She offered a small motorhome and studio w/ 2 twins. We used the motorhome but not the studio. The beds are more for kids or small adults. Most of us are over 6 ft.She said we didnt have to pay extra.
Our family flew in from ALL over the states for this so overall, it was great just frustrating.l'd encourage others make sure the owner writes down your dates
Absolutely wonderful setting for a family gathering. Plenty of room and activities to do right at the property. Our little ones really enjoyed seeing the different farm animals and the swimming pool was a big hit for all ages.
