The Neighborhood:
Welcome to the Boise neighborhood — a vibrant, walkable gem on Portland’s east side. Often referred to as “Boise-Eliot,” the area blends the best of two iconic streets: Mississippi Avenue and Williams Avenue. Each has its own unique rhythm, with Mississippi known for its historic charm and Williams for its sleek modern edge. Together, they form one of Portland’s most beloved neighborhoods.
This is a community that celebrates diversity, creativity, and local entrepreneurship. You’ll find a friendly mix of families, artists, young professionals, and long-time residents who proudly support the independent businesses that line every block.
Just steps from your door, you’ll discover some of the city’s most celebrated restaurants — including Eem (Thai BBQ), La Cocina (Oaxacan), Life of Pie, XLB, and Kayo’s Ramen — along with boutique coffee shops, vintage stores, yoga studios, barbershops, and hidden gems you’ll only find in Portland. Mississippi Avenue’s famed food cart pod, breweries, and music venues are just a short walk away.
Need groceries? New Seasons Market (Portland’s local answer to Whole Foods) is only a few blocks from the house. Whether you’re here for the food, the culture, or the people — this neighborhood is the perfect home base for your Portland adventure.
Getting Around:
🚶 Walking — Mississippi Avenue is one of Portland's liveliest strips, packed with restaurants, bars, music venues, and unique shops — all within walking distance.
🚌 Bus — TriMet Route 4 (Fessenden) runs along Williams and Vancouver avenues every 15 minutes with direct service to downtown (~15 min).
🚲 Biking — BIKETOWN bike-share stations nearby. Portland's bike lane network makes cycling easy and safe.
🚗 Driving — Free street parking is generally available. Rideshare (Uber/Lyft) typically arrives in under 5 minutes.
✈️ Airport — PDX is about 15 minutes by car. The MAX Yellow Line at the nearby Albina/Mississippi station connects to downtown and other MAX lines for airport access.
Other Things to Note:
♿ Entry: the apartment is at the garden level of a 5-unit building — one flight of stairs down, no elevator or step-free route. It may not suit guests with mobility limitations.
🔊 It's a lower-level home, so you may occasionally hear footsteps from neighbors above. Light sleepers may prefer white noise or earplugs.
🚗 Parking: one first-come space per apartment in the rear gravel lot; free street parking nearby (please follow posted signs).
🌤️ No private outdoor space.
🐾 Pets welcome! We deep clean between every stay, though we can't guarantee 100% dander-free for allergy-sensitive guests.
⏰ Quiet hours: 10 PM – 7 AM (building + city ordinance)
🚭 No smoking indoors; outdoor smoking 10+ ft from the building
