Typisch englisches beeindruckendes Schlosshotel. Dartmoor ist eine traumhafte Landschaft, die Empfehlung des Hotels für die Wanderung führte zu einem feenhaften Wald.

Unglaublich tolles Hotel in toller Landschaft! Bovey castle ist ein wunderschönes, serviceorientiertes Hotel, bei unserer Ankunft war auf dem Zimmer scfhon Gratis Gin, Äpfel, Wasser, Nüsse und wie es sich für ein 5 Sterne Hotel gehören sollte, lagen abends süßigkeiten auf dem Bett. Das dem Hotel angeschlossene Restaurant ist auch sehr gut und nicht überteuert. Alle Mitarbeiter waren sehr freundlich, die Zimmer wunderschön und auch der Pool mit Whirlpool ist sehr schön. die Lage ist traumhaft!

Historischer Ort der zu verfallen scheint
Ein so exklusives Hotel hat es im Vergleich mit seinen Wettbewerbern sich nicht leicht. Daher ist die Messlatte sicher sehr hoch. Was besonders aufgefallen ist: - Zimmer war bei Ankunft nicht geheizt, bei 3°C Außentemperatur - Badezimmer mit Fäkalien an einer Wand - Wasser wird in Einwegflaschen manuell nachgefüllt - Hygiene? - Poolanlage marode und Klimatisierung unzumutbar laut - Sauberkeit der Poolanalge und Umkleidekabinen enttäuschend - Sauna renovierungsbedürftig - Frühstück bietet lediglich Schinken, Salami und zwei Sorten Käse. Alles darüber hinaus kostet extra. Sehr enttäuschend. - Essen auf dem Zimmer kostet Aufpreis - Abrechnungen fehlerhaft und führen falsche Positionen auf - SPA am Wochenende teurer als an Werktagen - nicht nachvollziehbar

Tolles Erlebnis
WOW - Das Hotel ist ein Erlebnis und einfach toll. Das Schloss ist sehr gross und hat imposante Räume in denen man äusserst fein dinieren oder entspannen kann. Die Parkanlage ist sehr schön und hervorragend unterhalten. Wir erachten den Preis für die Übernachtung im gewählten Standardzimmer als sehr angepasst. Es fallen jedoch Kosten für Frühstück (GBP 15 für kaltes Büffet und GBP 20 für warmes/kaltes Büffet pro Person) an und auch das Essen und die Barpreise sind eher hoch. Die Bewirtung ist jedoch auch top-end und das Essen sehr lecker. Es gibt ein Freizeitprogramm mit Greifvogelschau und weiteren Attraktionen. Wir gingen Tontauben schiessen (GBP 50/Person); das hat Spass gemacht.

Das Bovey Castle ist ein wunderschönes Haus mit ausserordentlich freundlichem Personal. Unser (Standard-)Zimmer - und auch die Treppen und Gänge - machten freilich einen etwas sanierungsbedürftigen Eindruck. Sehr schön der Esssaal und der Swimmingpool. Insgesamt empfehlenswert.

Perfect location
We booked a family room, which was a little bit too small for the four of us and therefore we upgraded for 200 pounds the night to a better one. Staff was from poor to excellent, food in the restaurant good, bistro really strange to poor. The location, the park and the building itself absolutely outstanding. Overall highly priced good hotel with certain areas of improvement needs.

Zu kleine Zimmer für den Preis
Das Castle ist insgesamt ein sehr schönes Hotel. Der Preis für ein Classic-Doppelzimmer ist aber viel zu hoch, für das, was es bietet. Entäuschend war auch, dass bei dieser Preisklasse das Frühstück nicht inbegriffen ist. Hinzu kommt, dass es nur 2 total verschiedene Restaurants gibt. Das eine ist ein Bistro mit mehr oder weniger Fastfood, das andere ein Luxusrestaurant, bei welchem Bluejeans mit Hemd nicht erwünscht sind. Ein nettes Restaurant, wo man auch fein essen kann, aber keinen Anzug tragen muss, fehlt und wäre absolut wünschenswert.

Fantastic stately home with lovely gardens. We had the cheapest room on the third floor and it was fine. The evening meal was ok but not fantastic. There is plenty to do and must be a golfers paradise. The ground floor rooms were magnificent

We found the Bovee castle hotel, and surrounding grounds absolutely delightful! The staff were friendly and attentive, and there was an error of elegance through most of the facility. We were far less impressed however with the available dining in the bistro. While the staff were still friendly, the food was uninspiring bordering on mediocre. This restaurant lacked any of the field of elegance. The characterized the rest of the hotel and almost seemed not to fit. There's a second, far more elegant dining room, but that facility was not open, so we can't speak to it.

It is quite rare to be met with so much enthusiasm and friendliness from each and every member of staff during our stay. The hotel is in a lovely settling and oozes atmosphere and luxury. We particularly loved the pool where we could relax undisturbed. We had dinner in both restaurants and enjoyed the food (and service) very much. All in all, every single aspect of our stay is rated 5 star; a superb experience!

Our recent experience with Bovey Castle was deeply disappointing. We had our reservation cancelled abruptly because we were bringing our cat, despite having no such issues in the past. The Deputy General Manager's handling of the situation lacked any personal communication or courtesy, leaving us feeling utterly disregarded as guests. This incident raises serious concerns about the hotel's customer service. As a result, l urge fellow cat lovers and pet owners to reconsider patronizing this hotel. It's crucial to support establishments that value all their guests, including those with furry companions.

Emanuele, this is not strictly true is it?In February 2023 you came to stay without advising about your pet; feline or otherwise. You simply arrived with your cat. We allowed the stay to go ahead as a gesture of goodwill but you were told, on departure, that you would NOT be allowed to bring him/her again. For February 2024 you booked via our website and indicated you were bringing a dog. Only when we asked for breed/age and name did you admit it was your cat. You were advised again, that your cat would not be allowed in the hotel and were offered free amendment or cancellation - you asked US to cancel your stay.

Very nice hotel with lots of good activities. The food was good and the hotel itself very nice. The only comments I would make was the service was pretty terrible in the bar and lounge area, slow not too friendly and I had to ask 3 times where my order was, no real apology. The spa is nice but the pool area very dated.

The staff - every one of them - were unbelievably friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. We’ve stayed at Bovey before so know how breathtaking, beautiful and serene it is -oozing with charm and class. But it is the staff who make stays memorable, The receptionists, waiting staff - everyone contributed hugely to an enjoyable stay. The food was good and despite almost continuous rain - we throughly enjoyed our stay,

Another lovely stay at Bovey
There is plenty of space to relax at Bovey, from numerous lounges, seating areas, a bar, two terraces, and two restaurants. There is a lovely spa and a large swimming pool with a jacuzzi one end and a sauna. All staff were happy and polite and nothing was too much trouble for them. We had no long wait times for our food (we ate in both restaurants) and waiters regularly attended the terrace areas to take drink/food orders, though you can order directly from the bar if you wish. We have stayed at Bovey several times and enjoyed each occasion and will be returning.
