Enjoy and relax in this classic beach 1 bed / 2 bath beach cottage on a single, ground floor that has been updated throughout. Perfect for small families on a budget that want to be 2 blocks from the beach in the classic beach community of the Newport Beach Peninsula.

Summer 2024 stays are 7 night rentals and run Sunday to Sunday.

Located less than two short blocks from the best stretch of beach in town one direction, and just steps from Channel Park in the other direction, all basic details have been planned and executed so that you can enjoy your stay. Probably the most visible feature is the front patio with a privacy barrier, providing a spacious indoor/outdoor mix of seating and entertainment as the patio blends into the living, dining and kitchen areas. Tastefully-appointed furnishings have been carefully chosen for a monochromatic setting that is relaxing, yet energizing at the same time: the perfect combination for any successful vacation stay!

Dog friendly with an enclosed and gates front yard. Pet fee of $100 per dog, maximum of two dogs due to space.

The living room and outdoor patio are separated a door to create wide-open space that the entire family can use to enjoy the cool ocean breezes. The living room has a large flatscreen TV with streaming services so you can keep up with the game or the news. The living room also features a queen sized sofa bed for additional guests. Just a few steps from the main living area, the express kitchen serves basic cooking and dining essentials - which is fully stocked with cooking/dining gear. You can choose to cook your meal on the outdoor grill or in the kitchen!

As you continue through the house, the master bedroom has a Queen bed and private bathroom with a shower. There is a closet with ample space for clothes.

Our bathrooms are on the small side, but are well-equipped with amentiies to make your stay enjoyable. The first bathroom has a shower and the second bathroom has a shower, but is built into a small catch-tub that can be used for small children.

To fulfill the sleeping arrangements for 4 total guests, please consider that the pullout living room sofa is a queen sized bed, best suited for 2 people.

Past the bedroom is a rear patio activitiy room that is fully enclosed that also leads to a fenced in rear patio/parking area. This room is stocked with books, games, and other activities that can be enjoyed at our small beach cottage.

Please be aware that this is entirely a non-smoking property, including the front patio.

To maximize the indoor space there are private laundry facilities are conveniently located on the side of the house.

PARKING: There is a parking space on the inside of the rear gate and a car can also be parked in the alley provided it is a small car and doesn't block the alley. General neighborhood street parking (metered or unmetered) also in area.

Summer Rentals are typically 7 night minimum and arrivals and departures are on FRIDAY IN JUNE/JULY/AUGUST. If you have specific dates in mind, please reach out to us and we will try to make them work!

Locals know the three-mile-long stretch with the harbor on one side and broad, sandy California beaches on the other as “the Peninsula.” The Balboa Peninsula has two piers with a view of a shoreline, surfers, and sunbathers spanning for miles. A walk straight down Main Street brings you to the historic Balboa Pavilion.

The Balboa Peninsula has many sit down restaurants and quick food stops for people hitting the sand for a day at Balboa Beach, and the variety of bars and live music makes the Peninsula a regional nightlife destination. Some of the places locals hang out for good seafood and a casual fun atmosphere are the Crab Cooker and Woody’s Wharf. Anglers can bring home dinner from one of the sport-fishing vessels and whale watching enthusiasts can see some of nature’s most beautiful creatures up close, as Balboa Peninsula rentals and adventure boats launch early and often. But a trip to the Peninsula wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the Balboa Fun Zone, where the Ferris wheel has stood for years!

Great Winter Beach Getaway
The location was great near Coast Highway and the beach. I liked looking at the park versus a home. The bed and living room were comfortable. The kitchen was complete with all I needed. The bathrooms were pretty small and one was very dated but since I have lived at the beach, I was used to it. The back room was a waste but I didn't need it. Both bathrooms are located in the bedroom so people on the sofa bed will have to go through the bedroom. I loved access to free activities.

Cozy Get Away
My friend and I traveled to California to attend the Darker Waves Concerts in Huntington Beach. This cozy little cottage was located far enough away from the event. It was quiet and peaceful in Newport Beach. We enjoyed walking over to the beach and down to the pier. Lots of great food places and things to see. It was a comfortable stay, and the owner was very responsive.

Fall Beach Getaway
The property was exactly as photographed and described. Just the two of us enjoyed spacious comfort. We used the ottomans in the back sun room as luggage stands. Excellent email and text communications throughout our stay. So convenient to the beach. We enjoyed a lot of beach walking. Upon departing to return home to Denver, the rental car needed only 2.5 gallons to fill up the tank!

Very nice place! Enough space to relax for a night in if you want, with a good kitchen and living space to hang out in. Walking distance from beach, pier, and tons of good food/drink. Also a basketball court right across the street!

Excellent time!
My wife and I along with our Poochies stayed at Scott’s property for 1 week at the end of September. The home is very clean, with plenty of amenities. The home is ideally located for pet lovers with a dog park directly adjacent. The beach is a very short distance along with many venues. We rented bikes for the week and enjoyed the comforts of Newport and their great restaurants. Scott was very accommodating and made himself available if needed. I would highly recommend this home. We will for sure be back next year!!

Nice, clean & cozy
This was a stay in the Newport area for surgery. I needed to have enough room to move around a walker, access bathroom with walker. I also needed to bring a special recliner to sleep in. Scott communicated everything to me and our stay was very nice. The area had a small park across the street and access to the water through a small beach within that same park. Not for a boat but definitely a kayak. There was 1 issue; VRBO automatically charged an additional $507 AFTER we paid the full amount charged on VRBO to Scott. No where was that listed on the rental property total amount. That VRBO will charge additional money. This was an outrageous amount. When I contacted Scott, he stated he had nothing to do with what VRBO can charge. That needs to be said on a rental property bc an additional $500 for just using VRBO website was gouging in my opinion. Scott stated he did not receive any of the $500 but I advised him he should make that known to future renters of his property that VRBO will also charge a separate fee. We paid Scott full amount and then VRBO used my credit card and charged that additional $507 days later. I have a greivance filed with VRBO. No refund or response as of this posting. PARKING plus, There is one parking spot inside the gated rental. It is small but can be used (our car was a Honda Pilot). There is another (bigger) parking spot in the allley for this rental. So that's 2 spots which is great.

We stayed at this property over Memorial Day. The location cannot be beat- we had a wonderful time playing the board games and relaxing between the beach and the patio. Our 4- legged friend probably had the best time of his life. The beach and dog friendly park made for an easy life.

Delightful, Comfortable, and Cozy Beach House
This is an ideal property in a great location, surprisingly quiet, and very close to the beach and a little park. The house has many thoughtful touches, comfortable seating inside, and nice patio furniture outside as well. The bed was great and there was plenty of closet space for clothes. Unlike other beach cottages, this home was adequately insulated and thankfully, the heater worked well and was quiet. We visited in February, which was rather cool but it was a good time to enjoy the beach without many people. We would definitely stay here again!
