Fantastic house and amazing place
We entered the place with both grandparents and kids, 8 people in total. The 4 nights were absolutely too short to enjoy everything but the time we had was great. The house itself is very comfortable, nicely decorated and very clean. The view is amazing! Hilo as city is fantastic and the volcano park is a must to go. We did barbecue and enjoyed the house. Thanks to the parents of Robin for your hospitality and the nice coffee and cookies. Mahalo!

Life is Pono at the Mermaid Hale
Clean, well equipped with recreational equipment and a well stocked hale. The upbeat Mermaid / ocean theme was a delight for all who stayed with us. Our property manager was prompt in answering all our questions and we loved falling asleep to the sound of the surf and frogs at night. Love this place and we will be back, you will love the serenity here.

Ocean view and then some
This place was great for our big family trip. There were 10 of us and we had plenty of space and beautiful views. The neighborhood was quiet with a lovely nature area to explore just down the road.

Location, location was the key
The views and location was great, but the cleanliness was not so much. The windows were very foggy with the prior guest leaving inappropriate imprints on the glass. The showers were dirty and shower curtains moldy and smelly. The pool was dangerous as the hose was busted along with deck creating sharp edges. The description says host are on property and would see them but they are directly downstairs and felt like we were always being watched, we saw them everyday. Other than that it was great, there was beach equipment and a cooler which was a plus. The views and whale, turtle, dolphin and other sea life watching are amazing.

Beautiful spot with waves you could watch all day!
The house is located in a quiet neighbourhood at the end of a long street. It's very safe and very quiet - the only thing you'll hear at night are the frogs and the waves! If you like to run, walk, or hike, you'll find all of these just out your front door. The kitchen is very well equipped, the furniture and the beds are very comfortable and the pool is perfect!. And the view! You can beat the view!

Best views in the cleanest space!
We were a family of 9 (ages 5mos-72) traveling from Seattle and New York and this home suited our family perfectly. The views are AMAZING and we all loved hearing the crashing waves from the lanai. The home was very well equipped for every need we were all very comfortable with the space. The lack of AC in common spaces was a bit challenging during the day, but the nights were comfortable with just the fans going. The pool was a great way to cool off and again, the views! We would definitely stay again!

This home is beautifully decorated. Amazing views from the home. It is located in a calm neighborhood. Well equipped kitchen. It is about 25-30 min from Hilo downtown. If you don’t mind this distance, this would be a great place to stay.

Scenic Stay near Volcano NP
This was a great stay for my family of 8 adults to explore volcanos national park and Hilo. We enjoyed coffee on the porch every morning and having plenty of space in the common areas. The volcanic beach right outside was perfect for sunrises and sunsets and relaxing after a day of exploring. The bedrooms were clean and accommodating but note that 3 of the bedrooms are connected.

No Place Like It
I could not imagine staying anywhere else. This was a home away from home with everything our family needed for our stay. But the best part was without a doubt the location. Listening to the waves crashing, feeling the ocean breeze, watching the amazing sunrise view were unforgettable!

Charming decor and unbeatable views
We stayed here for 3 nights in August. Two families fit nicely- sat at the same table with incredible lava shoreline views. It’s very clean and the decor -linens/dining ware seems like a mermaid designed it all. I had a question about check in and the hosts were immediately responsive. It’s about 25” to Hilo.

Great location, excellent deck
The house was very nice, location was amazing, right on the ocean. There were fruit stands nearby, and it was easy to get to volcanoes National park and Hilo. Off the cliffs every evening we saw sea turtles and even an octopus.

A Beautiful Vacation Home!
We loved everything about this house, especially the location (on the beautiful lava cliffs overlooking the ocean!) and the space (there was so much room for our family of 6). We loved being able to watch the sunrise every morning. And a highlight was seeing a family of sea turtles in the ocean behind the house! This was also an immaculately clean house with fun decor.

Great Entertaining Home; Very Clean
We very much enjoyed our stay at this property. As a rule, we vary our travel -- camping, cruises, etc. -- and often rent a home. The views from this home are outstanding and we so enjoyed the dining/living room areas particulary with the near-floor-to-ceiling windows. Huge space, too, for the six of us. One of my pleasures is NOT eating out always. Fun to relax with family, prepare and enjoy a meal. This kitchen was spotless when we arrived and one of the best-equipped ones we've encountered. Lots of dishes, flatware, pots/pans, etc. Food prep was easy. Beds/baths were fine. Although one minor "heads up" -- we need four bedrooms, which this home technically has. However, one of them (where our teenage grandson bunke) is only accessible by going through one of the other two bedrooms. Not a real problem for us, but if couples were renting -- might be a bit awkward. Two bathrooms were adequate for us; the laundry room came in handy, the owner supplies lots of towels -- both bath and beach. The pool area was nice and well equipped. Also, a small supply of things like snorkels, fins, etc. There was a cooler which came in handy going out and about for the day. The location of the home can be a + or a -. The "minus" is that it is a little bit out of the way (although easy to find); Hawaii is a big island so no matter where you stay you'll do a good bit of driving to see everything. However, the location was also super quiet; rarely saw another soul!

A vacation to remember!
My husband and I brought our adult “children” (daughter, son, and our recently married son and his wife) to vacation with us at this beautiful rental. 6 adults coming from different area of the US, with different agenda and ideas of what they wanted on a vacation. Everyone was thrilled! The spaciousness, cleanliness, and comfort of this house was so appreciated. It is more than what the pictures show; plenty of room to gather, comfy beds, and great nooks and crannies to grab a book and have some alone time. Communication with the property manager couldn’t have been better. We can’t wait to come back next year!

Unbeatable Waterfront
Great property, right on the water; got to watch whales swim by from the pool deck. Quiet neighborhood, close walking distance to a local park with walking available along the ocean foreshore. Kitchen was well supplied to prepare our meals, bedrooms were clean and comfortable, and was really nice to have local laundry facilities to be able to pack lighter and clean as we went. Property provided snorkels, masks and coolers for our daily adventures. Ocean is not swimmable, but house has small pool that was great for the kids.

Wonderful, thoughtfully equipped house
I came to this house with my young son, teen step-son, mom, brother, and brother’s partner, so we had a real mix of needs and speeds! The house was perfect for everyone and had a lot of space so that people could also have some privacy/personal space as well. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook many of our meals there, which was nice. The views are incredible! The house is a bit out of the way of things you might want to go to- we had to drive a minimum of fifteen minutes each way to get to anything, and because of traffic getting to Hilo often took 35 minutes or so. That could be a negative or positive, depending on your style. My mom kept saying “why would you even want to go anywhere when you could just stay at this beautiful house and look at the ocean?!” The owner’s parents help to manage the property and live downstairs. When I saw that in the listing I wasn’t sure how it would go, so I thought I should add here that it was great. We didn’t see them at all until we had a minor issue with something and needed help with it, and then we were able to just send a quick text and get the help we needed in just minutes. It was really a perfect set up.

House with a magnificient view on the sea
The view is amazing outside and in the living room. The lanai is pretty and you hear the waves nearby. We saw a couple of whales, but far away. There are lots of small private spaces in the house, so that was ideal for our family of 6. The kitchen is well provided and the beds comfortable. Note that the owner/person in charge lived downstairs while we there, they were extremely discreet but that might disturb some person. Great syay that I would recommend without hesitation!

Fabulous no matter the weather
This property lived up to all expectations. Important to remember weather can be very rainy- the outdoor space is large and one end is open but protected from the elements and other portion is three walls with windows that open. The entire place is very very well equipped with everything you may need and more- very very clean as well Not maybe the best for smaller children despite child gates etc- very nice décor but better suited to older kids and very suited for adults looking for peace and pure ocean sounds. Spectacular ocean views Pool was very much appreciated on the sunny days but more like a plunge type pool- not for swimming - not suitable for small children as it is four feet depth all around- very very small pool deck and no sun loungers at all- there are however tommy Bahamas beach chairs Lots of sun chairs etc Loved it and would recommend

Amazing place!
It was hard to leave at the end of our trip. This property was absolutely amazing with its location and views of the ocean from inside and out. One of the better lots in the area as this property jetted out a bit giving panoramic views of the Eastern/southern coast of the Big Island. The house had everything you needed and the AC in the bedrooms was a plus at night with the warm August temperatures.
