Welcome to Hale Pulelehua, Butterfly House, formally known as Endless Summer Hale. A beautifully renovated home right across Kahalu'u Beach on the historic Ali’i Drive.

This house is on the mauka (mountain) side of Ali'i Drive. Enjoy ocean view sunsets from the expansive great room that extends to the lanai where you can enjoy a meal with a view. Located by the Kahalu'u Beach Park, a popular spot for snorkeling with beautiful coral reefs, fish and sea turtles.

Good location, comfortably fits 4 adults and 4 kids

Our group of 4 adults and 4 children (ages range from 4 to 11) enjoyed our stay at Endless Summer Hale. There was plenty of seating and space in the kitchen and living room, and there were great views of the ocean and surfers from the lanai.The property is located away from the commercial section of Ali'i Drive. It felt safe and it was quiet at night, except for the sounds of the ocean. Beaches, restaurants, and grocery stores are about 10 minutes away by car. The driveway had enough space to park our large SUV. For future guests, note that the driveway is a little bit hidden and the street numbering is a bit tricky. Neighboring addresses all start with the same two digits, and a neighboring address has a very similar address. This is no fault of the property... once you find the right driveway, you're good. Also note that there are steps leading to the front door, just something to be aware of for mobility.The property was very clean and had all the kitchen essentials, beddings, and beach accessories that we needed. For our group of 8, a few extra beach and bath towels would have been convenient. We noticed some small bugs in and around the property. The owners were proactive by laying many bug traps around but nature will find a way. The rental management staff was very helpful and informative, they responded to email and text messages promptly. The rental instructions were clear. Checking-in and out was smooth. We had no issues during our stay.

Well named! We spent a lot Of time on the lanai enjoying the sunshine and sounds of the ocean. Property was as advertised. Clean and offered the basic amenities. Kitchen appliances are fairly new and in good condition. Communication with the host was timely and helpful. Within walking distance of a nice beach. Would stay here again.

Relaxing stay in a convenient rental home

We very much enjoyed our stay in this house by the water. From the front deck you can watch the surfers try to manage the break and from inside the house you can hear the crashing waves. We enjoyed sitting on the porch for our meals or to just enjoy the ocean. The house had been impeccably cleaned - I spilled water on the floor and when I wiped it up, there was zero dirt on the paper towel. The property managers checked in with texts regularly and were very responsive. The location is good. While you're not within walking distance of downtown Kona, you can easily walk to the surfing/snorkeling beach. And you're just a few minutes drive down the road from the shopping and restaurants, as well as other beaches. We were just two of us in the house, but you could stuff an extended family in the home. Two bedrooms and two baths. One is an ensuite with with a pullout sleeper sofa in it. The kitchen was equipped with all the tools I needed to make meals. And there was a Roku so you can log into your streaming services if you want a little TV or movie time.

Great location but falls short on the details

I’ve rented several beach houses over the years and I would generally say that they are all in some state of disrepair. This home is no different. AC broke and leaked water everywhere and didn’t seem to work at all in the main room. Disappointing given the price point, but not entirely unexpected. One positive is that the management responded quickly to get repairs made. What is surprising is the complete lack of supplies the home came with. I know what is and is not included is a general gray area for rental vacation homes, but every home should come with at least 1 coffee filter and 1 dish washer detergent pod. The left over sauces with either mismatched with the bottles or very old, like jet black “lime juice”, shampoo in the conditioner bottles, etc. We didn’t use any of them. Frustrating that we had to go back to the store a few times to get basic items.

Good Stay, Great Location

We really loved the location of this property. It is very close to getting to Kona, the airport, food, shopping, beaches, etc. Overall the house was nice but we didn't love that the back entrance to the house wasn't sealed off from lizards and the bugs. For the master, there was no lighting for over the sink/vanity so that made getting ready a bit difficult. We appreciated the AC units in the bedroom especially with an infant. The instructions for the house were readily available along with some great recommendations. Overall, liked our stay and checking in/out was easy.

Great Property for Scuba Trip

I stayed at this property from 4/10 to 4/27/2023. I was there pretty strictly to dive. For that purpose, the place was perfect. Clean, spacious, plenty of table space for working on gear, a short drive to Honokohau Harbor for dive boat launches, and a shower outside to rinse gear without having to drag it through the house. Location-wise, it’s not a short walk to restaurants or shops and is on busy Ali’i Drive. So you do hear a fair amount of traffic. But, another huge plus, it’s less than 1/4 mile from the snorkeling at Kahalu’u Bay. The place is also very well appointed with cookware, beach toys, towels, etc. I cooked there often so I didn’t need to go out much. And the property managers weee super-responsive when I needed to change plans on short notice. I definitely recommend this property unless for some reason you really need to be in the heart of Kailua-Kona or plan to spend most of your time way up the Kohala Coast.

Great property overall! Beautiful, across the street from the ocean! Beautiful landscaping! The master bedroom’s bed wasn’t very comfortable for a 4 day stay. The check in process was a little strange and very last minute for people traveling abroad. But we got it sorted.
