Absolutely Disgusting – Stay Away
I’ve stayed in some questionable places, but Sonesta Simply Suites Detroit Southfield takes the cake for being the most revolting hotel experience I’ve ever had. The moment I walked into the room, it was clear this place had zero standards for cleanliness or professionalism.
Let’s start with the bathroom — there were bugs crawling in the tub, which immediately made me question when the place was last cleaned. Then I noticed dried puke on the wall and hair tangled in the towels. Not a stray hair. Not two. But a nest of someone else’s hair twisted into what was supposed to be a “clean” towel.
I had prepaid for a specific room — larger, more expensive — only to be told at check-in that it was “accidentally” given away. Instead, they shoved me into a smaller, cheaper room and shrugged it off like it was no big deal. No refund, no upgrade, not even a sincere apology.
To top it all off, the receptionist casually mentioned someone told him that working here looked bad on his resume. And honestly? I get it. If this hotel were on fire, I’d still recommend sleeping in the ashes over booking another night here.
Do NOT stay here. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy.
