Hotel was in a convenient location for shopping and nightlife. Disappointed regarding lack of hotel parking requiring 10 min walk to nearest available with all luggage. No drop off/ pick up point outside hotel. Biggest disappointment was quality of bed/mattress, very low bed, soft and lumpy - poor sleep. All other facilities eg tea,coffe were in plentiful supply. Lovely hot, powerful shower.

Good Morning Glenn,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback concerning your recent stay at the ABode Chester.I'm very sorry you found the mattress to be low quality, I appreciate quality is very subjective, based on the amount of money the hotels spend on our mattresses, and purchasing from Industry leaders, I'm surprised to read your comments. If you are due to spend another night in Chester please do let me know and I'll arrange for you to be allocated one of your newest mattresses. Concerning parking, I'm very sorry you had issues with finding a space. For unloading, there is a large layby directly in front of the hotel, which on those occasions when the hotel's car park is full, many guests use to unload, furthermore, even when the car park is full there is the opportunity to unload in the car park and then move your car to an external car park.Kind RegardsGiles Stonehouse

We stayed for a birthday celebration, the reception staff were nice. The room was very small, the toilet roll holder was hanging off the wall. Overnight stay was fine, we then went for breakfast, £18pp, not worth it. It was probably the blandest breakfast I have ever had. Service was poor and no atmosphere.

Stayed a few years ago and was amazing looking a bit tired now. Room ok, no fridge, wonky TV stand just generally tired compared to previous. Feel paid reasonable price but would have complained had I paid more. Excellent location though. Didn't use bar etc so can't comment on other facilities. Parking limited but reasonable price especially for location. Staff excellent very friendly and efficient service.

The room on first inspection was fine. Clean room, lovely comfy bed (we had a standard double) only staying one night so the room met our needs for the amount of time we spent in it. Lovely clean shower, bed linen also clean and crisp. Room tea and coffee was a good supply. However the mini bar was steep! The corner of the room nearest the largest window was soaked with water, and the room to be fair smelt like condensation.. I like to think this was an oversight on the overall hotel as it was lovely. Don’t let this deter your stay.

Nice room, poor service.
The room was nice, clean and comfortable. The service at breakfast was very poor. I ordered coffee and juice but didn't reverie it. I had to remind the waiter. Breakfast was made to order, but no customisation was possible. All i wanted was toast, bacon and eggs but i was told that's not possible, I had to order the full English. Very frustrating.

I regularly stay in hotels for work, having had a poor experience In the Holiday inn Chester, I thought I would try here. Check in was functional, I tried to make conversation with the front desk staff but got nothing back. I wouldn't say it was welcoming. Upon entering the hotel room, the first thing I noticed was a fousty smell, but the hotel room looked clean. The bathroom was quite new, but had a poorly designed shower that unavoidably soaked the bathroom floor. The bed was not comfortable unfortunately, mattress was quite worn with grooves in it where it had been a mattress for too long. As soon as I tried to sleep, I realised there was a loud dripping noise from a water tank or something above the ceiling, this kept me awake and at 5am the dripping turned in to a much louder water pouring noise. I Did not sleep well at all. It's a shame that breakfast isn't a buffet as in most hotels, however the breakfast staff were very good. On checkout, I let reception know about the water noises in the room, and although the staff were apologetic, they just logged it with maintenance and nothing more.

First problem was that the address was incorrect. It showed Grosvenor Park Street which is about 3/4 mile away. It is in Grasvenor street in the HQ building. Another issue was lack of information in the room particularly breakfast times.

Great hotel in Chester
Hotel is conveniently located a short walk from the city centre. The hotel was clean and carpets were being replaced in the corridors and rooms. Dinner and breakfast in the restaurant on the 5th floor we're both good.

Gorgeous Place to Stay
We’ve stayed at this hotel in Chester twice now and loved both visits! It’s clean, cosy, the rooms are spacious and the beds are so comfortable. Shower is lovely and we had everything we needed in the room (shampoo, hair dryer, iron, etc). Check in and check out is easy and we’ve never had any trouble with noise outside or from other guests. The breakfast was also wonderful and so filling. The parking in the hotel is handy, but a little pricey at £12.50, but this time we parked opposite the hotel in the public car park and that was a little cheaper. Some hotels in Chester don’t have any parking so this is still a bonus! ABode has become our go-to hotel when we visit Chester, especially since it’s so close to the centre too, would definitely recommend to anyone!

Overnight Christmas stay
Easy check-in and check-out. Arrived early and were able to secure car parking space - charged £12.50 even though notices 'read' charge £10 (Sun-Thu) - did mention this at check-in but receptionist didnt comment so assumed parking charges had increased. Nice large room with racecourse view although furniture 'tired' (very scratched and iron burn marks on dressing table) - disappointing as we had paid extra for a deluxe room and expected more luxury in 4 star hotel. Had meal in Bistro in evening - service was excellent to start with but had to wait quite some time for main course which meant didnt bother with pudding. NB: There was a large group booking in and with it being Christmas Eve we didnt say anything as appreciate the staff were doing there best.

We had an amazing stay. One of the best hotels we have stayed in. Rooms are so nice and very clean. The bed was huge. Would definitely recommend anyone to stay here and so close the Chester shopping.
