Only negative comment is it would have been good to know in advance that it was a haunted property (most haunted pub in Derbyshire allegedly) rather than finding out on arrival. It freaked me out and I slept poorly. Would have booked elsewhere if I had known. “

„We stayed at the Manor House for two nights.
It is a beautiful old building, which has been thoughfully modernised inside.
Our room was clean and comfortable and the bathroom had a good shower, with plenty of hot water. It was also surprisingly quiet, for being in a town, with the occasional call of a pair of tawny owls.
The staff were absolutely great, and very efficiently with their service.
Breakfast was superb, with a menu to suit everyone.

"Champneys Mottram Hall – Wellness Retreat or Overpriced Sauna?
We were really looking forward to a relaxing night at Champneys Mottram Hall. For over £200 a night, you’d expect comfort. Instead, we got a masterclass in how not to do hospitality.
We asked to see a room first — after reading quite a few bad reviews (which turned out to be accurate). The room they showed us was fine… but then it wasn’t available anymore. So we booked another one, slightly cheaper, still overpriced.
It wasn’t even ready, despite being listed as available online. We were sent to the restaurant to wait, where the only food was burgers and fries — at a wellness resort. Classy.
When we finally got the room key, we stepped into what felt like a furnace — at least 40°C, no air conditioning, barely openable windows, and a tiny desk fan trying to cool it down. Outside the window? A wall of deafening industrial ventilators.
The room was loud, boiling, and totally unfit for sleep or rest. If I wanted to be roasted alive next to jet engines, I’d have booked a Ryanair tarmac picnic.
Save your money. This isn’t luxury — it’s a loud, sweaty disappointment dressed up as a spa break.

"Der Check In war eher unfreundlich und sehr unpersönlich. Es wurde nur kurz über das Frühstück gesprochen wo das stattfinden soll, wobei das noch mit falscher Uhrzeit. Für das, das es ein SPA Hotel sein soll wurde darüber nichts gesagt und keine Information gegeben wie der SPA zu nutzen geht. Auch auf dem Zimmer keine Broschüre oder sonstigen Angebote wie man als Gast das nutzen kann. Das Zimmer direkt nebem dem Aufzug sollte man meiden da sehr hellhöhrig."

In meinem Flur roch es sehr unangenehm. Das Frühstück war ok aber nicht jetzt keine tolle Qualität oder besonders lecker. Eine Kollegin hatte ein altes Bad und Schimmel in diesem. Auf die freundliche Frage, ob sie ein anderes bekommen könnte wurde recht unfreundlich geantwortet, dass es nicht möglich ist. Sehr schade, da das Haus an sich wirklich schön ist. "
