Sehr angenehme Übernachtung
Neues Hotel in altem Gebäude, hohe Zimmer, sauber, netter Service und ein warmes Chocolate Chip Cookie als Willkommensgeschenk. Die Abfahrt vom Highway hat sich definitiv gelohnt.

A reservation, pre-paid weeks in advance, may not hold your room at this hotel. We arrived in the lobby, luggage and infant in-hand, only to learn that our room had been given away because the hotel allowed some people to extend thier reservations and has a "first-come, first served" overbooking policy. No one even attempted to contact us to say that our room was in jeopardy. We have stayed at this hotel several times before and not even our loyalty was considered. We were able to find a new hotel but what would we have done if there had been some kind of event in town and hotels were sold out? The Double Tree paid for one night of the stay at our new hotel but that felt quite insufficient given the level of inconvenience. The hotel tried to point out that this had never happened to us before, during our many stays, as some sort of consolation. How many times do you need to be completely displaced before a complaint has merit?

Hotel was oversold and room was not available. We confirmed the morning of arrival and told we were confirmed. We were sent to another, lesser Hilton property 20 miles away. On arrival there we were told by staff they had our name the day prior. This is not acceptable to first over book. That's Hotel 101. Second lie to you when you confirm and not notify the minute they are aware of the problem. This is not my first issue with Hilton booking. The staff was totally unapologetic tell us "good news" we have booked you at a cappy hotel 20 miles away but won't charge you. How the hell is that "good news".

The overall experience was excellent. We would definitely stay here again if ever in the area. "Cleanliness" received only four-stars as there was a lot of clutter found behind the dresser and table (not visible unless you looked behind the dresser). "Area Around the Property" received only four stars as there was a lot of roadway construction in progress and it made entry to the hotel somewhat confusing - but this is not the fault of the hotel.

When opening the room to the hotel, I was pleased with the layout of the room. I felt the Bistro was a popular attraction and held a sharp atmosphere of classiness. My only complaint would be the construction around the hotel was inconvenient.

Check in time was 3pm we got there at 4pm and our room wasn't ready AND they wouldn't let us check in. We had to leave our party and come back to check-in. They were not very understanding. I paid $400 for the room!! Totally ridiculous!

Joseph,I apologize for the delays in checking you in at 3pm. We do our very best to accommodate all guests and sometimes inventory constraints or previous guests checking out late make it difficult to have every room available by 3pm.

Beautiful hotel in great downtown location
The room was very clean, bed was super comfy. On my one tiny complaint and that was after they cleaned my room while I was gone during the day they didn't replace disposable coffee cups so i couldnt make a hot drink before i left. Not a huge deal. Great location. Parking is NOT free and its very confusing. But hotel is priced so reasonable that its not awful.

The hotel is the best thing in Youngstown. The restaurant is actually very good. Great onion soup. The only thing I don’t like is you have to pay for parking. Didn’t know that

Great downtown hotel
The hotel is very nice and is right downtown in a historic building. It also has a nice restaurant on the main floor. We liked it a lot and would stay there again.

Downtown convenience!
Very recently renovated. The downtown section is being renovated as a whole and it's looking great! I loved how convenient everything was to this hotel. Lots of food options and shopping all within a few blocks. If you don't want to walk, then the Bistro 1907 in the hotel is a great restaurant itself. A great place for business or pleasure!

The DoubleTree in Downtown Youngstown is a gem. It makes my visits to the city so convenient, and makes them feel special in such a beautiful setting (unlike all the options by the interstate).

Nice hotel, but didn't get reserved room.
Hotel experience was generally quite good. Rooms were clean and well maintained. Restaurant was great and fitness room was well equipped. My stay would have been just about perfect, except I didn't get the room I had reserved. I had booked through Expedia and had gotten a sizeable discount for a king room with a sofabed. However, when I checked in I was told that room was not available. The desk person said he believed that someone in Hilton Honors club self-checked in and took room. Got a king room with a chair, but no sofa bed. Price was the same and there were no cheaper rooms available. Room was fine, but it bothers me that my reservation was second class compared to the 'Club Member'. If they want to hold back some rooms for their special friends, that's fine, but to poach my room seems patently unfair. This policy should be made very clear at the time of reservation and I'll just book the cheapest room.

Noisy room and cheap mattress
Have stayed overnight about a dozen times at this hotel. Good experiences up to this one. The mattress was a cheap one, very uncomfortable. At around midnight, a fight broke out in the room next to ours. Constant screaming of obscenities, shouting, body slams against the wall for about an hour, then finally the fight(s) spilled out into the hallway. Called management, they sent some up to quell the mini-riot. Then, loud talking in the room, right behind my headboard, until 3am or so. We never heard anything from another room during previous stays - I don't know if this was a construction shortcut particular to the room we had on this visit, but the walls were disappointingly thin. This is an otherwise nice place, but be advised, if there is a brouhaha in a room around you, you'll be hearing all the action all night long.

David,Glad to hear that all of your previous stays have been enjoyable, and I apologize for the behavior of the guest whose room was adjacent to your room on your most recent stay. The hotel has a zero tolerance for loud or rude behavior. That particular guest's behavior was unacceptable and as a result the police were called, and he was removed from the hotel.

Nice, but unhelpful
Wasn’t told there was an extra charge for parking, it just showed up on my bill. I also asked if there was any way to move my stay to the following night as my wife wasn’t able to make it into town and I was told without hesitation that was impossible. The staff were friendly in appearance but not very helpful or accommodating.

I'm sorry to hear things did not go smoothly during your stay. Our website does indicate a daily charge for parking and the nightly rate is also posted at the entrance of the parking lot. I will follow up with our front desk personnel to reiterate the importance of communicating the charge upon check-in as well. The hotel is unable to change arrival dates of reservations booked through third-parties. In this case you would have had to call Expedia to make the change and the hotel would have been glad to accommodate your request. Hope this helps with future reservations!

Where's the warm cookies :) Could've been just one of those days, but the lady checking us in that night wasn't very friendly or helpful at all. Stayed at a Double Tree in Canton, totally the opposite...everything you expect at a Double Tree, e.g., a smile, friendly staff, offered a warm cookie, and enthusiastic behind the desk. Very welcoming!
