"Geräumige kleine Häuschen in Zweiergruppen am Ortsrand von Carmel. Ortskern und Strand gerade noch zu Fuß erreichbar. Einrichtung schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Sehr hellhörig, so dass Geräusche aus dem Nebenhaus deutlich hörbar. Jedoch sehr sauber und geräumig. Personal hilfsbereit, wenn auch eher reserviert."

"Overpriced and Noisy – Look Elsewhere in Carmel We stayed at the Wayside Inn in Carmel-by-the-Sea and were extremely disappointed, especially given the price. At over $400 per night, we expected peace and comfort — the one thing most people look for on a Carmel getaway. Instead, we got early wake-up calls from garbage trucks, heavy vehicles, and relentless construction noise. Our room (#1) was right next to a loud community power station, with a ventilation system that runs — and hums — 24/7. The walls are so thin that we have heard every word of the conversation in the adjacent room. And you hear every step or moving a chair/luggage from the guests who occupied the room above us. The room itself was smelly and awkwardly designed. The toilet is literally on the floor level of the main room, offering zero privacy — who thought that was a good idea? The furniture is dated and worn — clearly from another era, at least 25 years old. It feels tired and neglected, not charming or vintage. Yes, the location is nice, but that’s true for nearly every hotel in Carmel. For the price, this stay was absolutely not worth it. Do yourself a favor and look for a newer or better-maintained place to enjoy the beauty and calm that Carmel is known for."
