Perfect Retreat
We loved our stay on this peaceful ranch. Great location away from everything, yet so close to Chiricahua NM and the Coronado NF. We really enjoyed all the birds around, especially all the owls at night. Jim's collection of relics and rocks were fantastic too. We enjoyed chatting with him. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer!

I can't speak highly enough of this special place. Located on a working ranch, it's right next to Chiricahua National Monument, a great place to hike, bird, and photograph. In the cabin, everything is thoughtfully arranged and labeled for guest comfort. Special touches like fresh farm eggs and hand-sewn textiles give the place a unique and memorable spirit. It's quiet, the night skies are bright with stars, and the front porch is a comfy reading spot. The owners are friendly but not intrusive; we really enjoyed visiting with them. We'll definitely be back.

Perfect for us!
My wife and I hoped to stay at a ranch, not a dude ranch, and this was it! I grew up with cattle and this ranch brought back all of my memories. Even more than this was that those at the ranch made us feel so welcomed, like were we’re old friends. The room was immaculate, it had everything a person could need, was so well done and organized and the bed was wonderful! The location was ideal given the mountains, Ft Bowie, etc. and we will definitely go back! This said, if you’re looking for a dude ranch experience with cookouts, games, riding, childcare, etc. then consider somewhere else given that this is a working ranch not a dude ranch. For us, it was exactly what we wanted and the slow pace and beautiful scenery and simple living made memories for us.

Great place to stay when visiting Chiricahua
This place is a great value. Only a few minutes drive from the entrance to Chiricahua National Monument. Everything you could need in the house and everything labeled so you don’t have to guess where stuff is. The host provided fresh, free range chicken eggs. The beds were comfy. It also has a nice sitting area where you can enjoy a book and watch the many birds at the feeders on the front porch. The hosts were very communicative. Highly recommended.

Hiking the Park
Best stay. The place was immaculate and relaxing. We could not be closer to the park and all its hiking. Spent two days on the trails. Easy travel to Brisbee, Tombstone and Wilcox. Owners are fabulous. I have T-Mobile had cell service plus they have WiFi. Great place!

Everything about this stay was wonderful. Location was just minutes from entrance to Chiricahua National Monument. The studio had two comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen and plenty of windows to view the beautiful ranch setting and watch birds perching on the two bird feeders. Briefly spoke to the hosts and enjoyed learning about their history with the ranch and region. Would happily stay here again.

Great vrbo close to Chiricahua National Monument
This is a wonderful place to stay. So private and perfectly outfitted for our two day stay. The hosts are friendly and have thought of everything! The proximity to Chiricahua NM made it easy to go for hikes and not have to drive farther than one mile to get there. We will be back.

We stayed at this location several times prior to Covid and the challenges to travel. the property, setting, the amenities and of course the owners are just charming and comfortable for us. We’ve enjoyed learning about the Ranch, chatting with them and helping with a few of the chores (!) If we are able, we would come in the future over and over again.

Paradise Found
Wow! Crossed J Ranch was our favorite vrbo EVER! The Riggs family members that we met, Jim, Janna, Buffy and Ethan, did everything possible to make our stay pleasurable. It was so peaceful and beautiful—colorful birds flittering around the feeders, cozy fire pit on the porch, coral sunsets, dark, starry skies—who could ask for more? It was the most well-equipped vrbo we have ever encountered. Cupboards and drawers were labeled so you could easily find everything. The bed was cozy and super comfortable. Linens were soft and bountiful. They even had a drawer containing items one might have forgotten. A dozen fresh eggs and butter were in the frig upon our arrival. Just remember to go food shopping before you get there so you don’t have to make a trip to Willcox for supplies, even though Buffy offered to share any item that we might have needed. We want to go back and experience every season in this amazing place!

A very nice and quiet getaway located just minutes from the Chiricahua National Monument and about 45 minutes from Willcox and all of its wineries. Perfect place to base if you’re going to be hiking.

I chose Cross J Ranch because of how close it was to Chiricahua National Monument, where I had planned to do a lot of hiking. I was blown away by the casita when I arrived. So charming, clean and comfortable. As I was unpacking my car, Jim came by to greet me. He was so kind and informative. The beds and pillows were incredibly comfortable. I actually forgot my special pillow for my neck, but I didn’t even notice as there’s were perfect. Coffee and fresh eggs in the morning, thanks to their beautiful chickens. I started my hikes later than expected both days, because I was so entertained by the birds coming by to eat from the feeder. Such a beautiful property with giant trees. I could have easily sat there all day. I am so thankful for the chance to stay there and can’t wait to go back!

Absolutely FABULOUS!
The location is excellent for accessing the Chiricahua National Monument. The property is quiet, peaceful, and the most organized studio apartment I’ve ever rented. The beds were comfortable and had nice linens. Everything was orderly, clean, labeled, and extremely well equipped. It was so easy to cook meals that I almost felt like I was in my own kitchen. As a bonus we got to enjoy a dozen delicious fresh eggs from their free range chickens. If you enjoy birding the birds were around in abundance. It was nice to listen to the songbirds, watch the chickens and a variety of birds visit the feeders. They also had a Coopers Hawk nesting near the apartment. The owners were really personable and have an interesting family history. We loved our stay on the ranch and will definitely return. I highly recommend this rental if you want a peaceful getaway.

Not only is the location superb for visiting Chiricauhau National Monument, but the little house is a gem. Everything you could want is in clearly-labeled spaces, even a potato masher. The cottage was clean, organized and comfortable and very close to the Chiricahuas. It is on a Ranch with many bird viewing opportunities including wild turkeys. There is a stream running behind the cottage. The hosts were very friendly and informative.

Great ranch stay close to the entrance of Chiricahua National Monument near Wilcox, AZ. It is a studio with full kitchen & furnishings & private bathroom with shower. The ranch has been in the Riggs family for 4 generations, & the hosts are cordial & ready to add to experience if the guest requires more. I have stayed here twice, & I will be here again.

Worth the trip across the country!
Spectacular, in an unbeatable location for exploring Chiricahua National Monument— The hosts provided everything we needed (even a pencil sharpener) and much more. We arrived later than expected and a little frazzled, but Mr. Riggs greeted us as and made us feel welcome and relaxed right away. We appreciated the details that made our stay special, including information about the home, its history, and the surrounding area. (The weather was exciting while we were there, too. We experienced chilly evenings, a mild sunny morning, heavy rainstorms, and incredible wind.) We're grateful that the Riggs' allowed us to experience the magic of their ranch. It was worth the trip across the country (from Maryland)!

Unique Opportunity
This studio worked perfectly for the 3 of us. Although snowfall impacted our hiking plans at the Chiricahua Nat’l Monument, the location was perfect for Chiricahua access, as well as comfortable, clean, and well stocked with kitchen items - even a dozen farm fresh eggs! Host Jim was delightful- friendly and knowledgeable about the the area’s history, and his own family’s travels to settle in the area. When snow sent us home early in the afternoon, we were provided with games and playing cards for entertainment. We appreciated all the labeling which made all items easy to find. The local soap and shampoo was yet another caring touch. We will definitely return if we are ever in the area.

We feel so grateful for our short stay at this wonderful location. Our host greeted us and made us feel at home right from the start. Very well appointed studio with plenty of space to spread out. Love the chickens
This is truly a perfect place to stay near Chiracahua National Monument. We came to do some winter hiking of the Big Loop and then we visited the sandhill cranes near Whitewater Draw. The kitchen and property are well appointed, plenty of hot water, comfortable beds, and friendly people. The chickens are probably my favorite, as they kept running up to me when I was outside, hoping for some tasty snacks and to be fed. There are two dogs on the property and everyone is delightfully kind and wonderful hosts.

Perfect spot for a small family to visit Chiricahua national monument
We very much enjoyed our stay. This small guest house was just the right space for our family of four. Our boys enjoyed the playground, chickens, dogs and bulls. Sunsets were beautiful. Everything was very clean and well organized, and thoughtful. The fresh eggs were delicious. We had everything we needed which was great considering the nearest town is about a 45 minute drive. But we wanted this as we were visiting the stunning Chiricahua national monument, which is just down the road. The host family was very friendly and it was fascinating to hear about their family history.

AMAZING
Do yourself a favor and book this place. The pictures do not do it justice and it’s truly a hidden gem right next to the chiricahuas. Right when we pulled up, we immediately wished we had booked a longer stay and are already planning our trip back. The space they have for guests is SPOTLESS and they have thought of EVERYTHING for your stay (all labeled too!). You are about 25 miles from the closest convenient store and it’s clear the owners have items stashed for that exact reason. I was blown away by all they had, if we had forgotten it (like ketchup!). The beds are so comfortable and it really felt just like home. The property itself is a working cattle ranch. The boys LOVED playing on the property and learning all about chickens and bulls. We went on walks and the sunset we saw on our first night was one I’ll never forget. Stunning and something you can’t even capture correctly on a camera. Thank you Buffi, Nathan, and Mr. Jim for such a wonderful stay. We will see you again!

An excellent experience
4 of us stayed for 4 nights on this property and we had an absolutely fabulous time. Jim and Janna are fantastic hosts, the property is neat, clean, well stocked and well organized. Their son's family (we met Tom, Buffy and Nathan) are very cordial and generous with their time to show us their ranch and different aspects of their ranch life.. we loved it.. It's also conveniently located about 5-7 minute drive from the Chiricahua National Monument, so we could hike in the mornings and then come back and relax in the afternoon. The night skies (with great Milky Way views) are also fantastic, just from the porch itself! No question that we will be back on this property in the near future.

Location, Location, Location!
Great family heritage farm just minutes from the entrance to the Chiricahua National Monument! Super friendly, helpful host family. I really enjoyed sitting on the porch watching all of the birds come to the feeders. The chickens and wild turkeys were an unexpected bonus! The studio apartment is immaculately clean and completely stocked with just about anything you could imagine and a few things you couldn't - fresh eggs in the fridge! Comfy bed, soft towels, updated bathroom. I can't say enough about the friendliness of Janna and her family! And you get a bit of history with artifacts from days gone by. I would stay here again! Great property!

The property is a 4th generation working cattle ranch close to the fabulous Chiricahua National Monument which speaks for itself, whether hiking during the day or star-gazing at the Dark Sky Preserve at night. The "J" Ranch Guest House is a quiet and peaceful oasis in the desert, with abundant wildlife and birds amongst the nearby trees and watering holes. The Owners are very friendly and accommodating, with outstanding knowledge of and expertise in the area's activities, wildlife and history. Our only complaint is we only had time for a 2-night stay ...... 1 week would be much better!

Beautiful ranch just outside of the Chiricahua National Monument
The cottage is super clean and comfortable and has all the amenities despite being 35 mi from the nearest town. It is located minutes front entrance monument and has a rich history connected to the place. Janna and Jim are sweet and wonderful hosts you will enjoy visiting with. You will be visited by many sought after birds, mammals wild and domestic friends. Peaceful and beautiful!
