What a cool experience to stay in a rainforest loft! Great location only a few minutes from Volcanoes National Park. The unit was well-appointed and updated. It was a little lacking in regards to the kitchen (i.e. utensils, oven/stove limited capability). The hot tub at the end of a jungle path was so atmospheric, although could’ve been a bit cleaner. All in all, we really enjoyed this unique stay.

This was a cool place to stay with jungle vibes. It was a great location for our visit into the Volcano National Park - quick and easy drive into the park. My girls loved the lofted bed and the “treehouse” feel. It’s not the most glamorous stay if that’s what you’re looking for, but it was a suitable place for our adventures!

House over was a nice location, cleaned and enjoyed the living room, bedroom and beds. The bathroom looked under renovations, some towels were torn, minimum silverware, and a toaster needs to be replaced. Having a stove would have been nice.

Tracking the Volcano Eruption can be a character-building exercise in patience and humility. The Volcano Village bnb rentals have become very sparse at times with the popularity of the eruption episodes. Finding this place last-minute and being able to book a spot for my family of 6 was critical for our episode viewing; we almost had to stay in Hilo and that would have been stressful. So glad to find this spot, and the cabin-loft vibes with the whole family sleeping in one very large room was an unexpected pleasure and created a fond memory. Located 5 minutes away from HVNP and 2 minute away from Volcano Village. Relaxed vibes and great value.

The hot tub was too dirty to get in. The kitchen was filthy with grease stains. There weren't even any hangers, which made it inconvenient to use.

Teeehouse getaway

What a perfect little rustic mountain getaway. If you like cooler nights, warm days and peace and quiet than this is where you want to stay. The hot tub was wonderful in its little jungle setting and the cabin treehouse was perfect for our family. Will definitely stay again.

The cleanliness wasn't the best, dust and cobwebs, there was no paper towel and some other things. The place is beautiful but we missed some amenities in the kitchen, located near the villains.

Great place in a great location

Our group was pleasantly surprised about how big the unit was. The pictures really don't do it justice. It was very clean and the owner gave great check in instructions. Highly recommend and would stay here again if I were to come back to the area for another trip.

This property is so close to being great. There is a reason it is cheaper than other places. Here are the things to consider when booking:#1 - and probably most important - the host was not appropriately responsive to problems. The cord on skillet was cut and hot plate was malfunctioning so we were unable to cook anything and had to waste groceries and eat out. There was a microwave but food we had needed skillet. Host sent one sentence about another hot plate that didn’t exist and then either didn’t read or ignored us until check out. #2 - there are beds for 7, but not really space or supplies for 7. 4 towels, 5 mm of soap in hand soap container, limited kitchen, no actual seating, 3 regular chairs at bar height counter and no table even though there could be space for one, not enough drinking water for 7 (tap water is not drinkable) - none in the fridge like sign at the door says. One tiny ice tray…. If you pack groceries you also need to bring every thing you need to cook it and not count on them.#3 - hot-tub is nice and hot but the path lighting is broken and there is no lighting at the pavilion. There is no lock on it like checkin email mentions.#4 - there are 5 units on this property that share hot tub#5 - the shower has the lowest pressure I’ve ever been in since Girl Scout camp. I think it’s intentional to save water, but noticeable and takes a very long time to wash hair. Was nice and hot. #6 - toilet seat was broken, bathroom/shower floor slippery.

The location of this home is great for visiting the National Park. The beds were comfortable. I appreciated the gallon of water to use since the tap water is not drinkable. Plenty of hot water for showers. The check-in process was easy and the communication with the lockbox code was sent a couple days prior to check in. A couple things to note, most of the outlets upstairs by the beds didn't work which meant one of the lamps by the bed didn't work. Cellphones had to be left downstairs to be charged. There were 6, thin, small bath towels, some with stains and holes and no washcloths provided. After a day of hiking we were looking forward to using the hot tub only to find it unusable due to a white scum floating on the surface and the water was very cloudy. This was disappointing. This house is perfect if you don't need all the bells and whistles and your priority is being close to the national park.

Still under construction

We've been staying at this suite for almost 10 years (through previous owners). Looks like they are upgrading, and it looks nice. But the bathroom isn't finished (no show9er door, so we had to put down towels everywhere). The fan/light worked upstairs, but no other switches, lights . Can't see the rest of the screen, so can't type more. Place is still beautiful.

Beautiful area

The house itself was adequate for our family. It felt like staying in a treehouse, and was surrounded by the most beautiful forest. A little outdated with old carpet, but clean enough. The mattress in the loft bed was old and falling apart, but did the job for our five-year-old. All the outlets on the left side of the kitchen counter do not work so we had to move all appliances to the right of the sink. I wish the amenities list was more thorough. We would’ve planned our meals much more accordingly. Had we known there was a rice cooker and hot plate. Our check in time was pushed back by two hours due to the previous guest, being extra disrespectful and dirty, so it took the cleaning lady a lot longer than she anticipated but no compensation was offered. Also, the Jacuzzi was really dirty and murky.

Nice unit in beautifully woods

Nice and quiet unit in the middle of a tropical garden. Easy access to the Volcano National Park. Short drive to the town of Volcano where there are several restaurants, a laundry mat, and a True Value store. The downside was that we only learned after we had checked in that the tap water was not suitable for drinking. The info sheet in the room said there was bottled drinking water in the fridge but there was none. There was a drinking water dispenser in the room but the 5-gallon water bottle on it was empty. I contacted the owner who quickly responded and said he would have the cleaner deliver some water to us the next day. But nobody did. Another problem was the room was cold when we arrived. The main gas heater did not work. There was only one tiny electric heater which could only heat a couple of feet around it.

Excellent place super close to Volcanoes National Park

Our stay at Tree House in Volcano Rainforest was excellent. The host communicated clearly and was very responsive. The location is perfect if you want to visit Volcanoes National Park. The house is the top story of a structure and consists of two main areas. The downstairs has a front room with two couches and a small heater, and a small kitchen. There is a plugin hot plate for stovetop cooking, a small microwave, and a small toaster oven. We typically go to Costco and purchase items there, and Costco containers don't fit in the microwave or toaster oven. We had to transfer them to smaller containers (which wasn't a big problem). You definitely won't be able to cook a pizza. :) The fridge is also on the smaller side, but that isn't an issue (unless you buy tons of food). The upstairs was a sleeping room with 2 double beds, 1 single bed, and a smaller loft bed for a child. It also had a nice TV logged into some nice services. The hot tub is a short walk away and shared with 3 other units. There is parking for four cars, and each unit is assigned a spot. They aren't marked though so people tended to park wherever was open. One of the parking spaces is encroached on by the foliage next to it so a larger vehicle will rub against the leaves and branches.Overall, this is a great place for a larger group if you don't mind being flexible in the kitchen and sleeping all in the same room.

Nice stay overall

Our family of 5 stayed at this property for 2 nights. Location is perfect, right next to VNP. You feel like you are in rainforest with birds being pretty loud at night (did not bother us once we closed windows). No need for A/C, unit cools down very fast once you open windows. Pretty clean overall, just dated. It is inconvenient that bathroom is downstairs while bedroom is upstairs , but it was clearly said in description, so was expected. Bathroom is very small, but water pressure is good. You cannot lock bathroom from inside, so we had to establish rule that if door is closed, it means someone is inside. We had very tiny amount of shower wash, so with 5 of us, ran out of it first night and used shampoo instead next day (was not a big deal, we had something to wash ourselves with). Bathtub screen was broken and did not move. We had only 4 bath towels between 5 of us ( and among these 4 towels 1 had stains and another one was ripped)so had to use hand towel to dry ourselves, but owner was very responsive and next day we had bunch of great clean and fresh towels, but first day was a disappointment). We also did not have fan as was advertised, so I could not wash hair first night, but next day fan was delivered together with towels. Owner provided 2 bags of coffee and drinking water, which was great. Bank bed has very thin mattress and my son really could not sleep on it and got up with back pain. Rest of beds fine. I would recommend this place, but for smaller group.

Keep looking!

This place is nasty! Coffee grinds in coffee maker, heavy dust everywhere, sheets dirty, no extra blankets, cockroaches in kitchen, 1/2 gallon of SUPPLIED water for 3 people and 3 days, over half of the receptacles do not work(she blamed on by pap machines) but they did not work BEFORE using machines, dehumidifier does not work, Poor lighting outside, the hot tub is disgustingly nasty. THIS PLACE IS IN A BEAUTIFUL PLACE. However the owner only cares about collecting the money and not caring for the property. She notified us 3 days before arrival to say our original unit was flooded. Did NOT offer a refund but did send us link to another unit. (Nothing like the one we reserved) we were scrambling to find something at the last minute. I text owner with questions without a response. When she did reply, she said she had four kids, and she’s been busy. Well, I feel like as a paid customer I should’ve gotten priority, especially due to the fact that her water damage was not our problem. We decided to stay at the other unit and was very disappointed upon arrival. due to the things mentioned above. She supplied us with five towels for three women for three days and said that she was being more than reasonable. There’s nowhere to dry towels and she expected us to use all five towels for three days. Due to all the trouble we had she NEVER offered to waive the cleaning fee or offer a discount. Like I mentioned she only cares about collecting her money. Keep looking!!

We are glad we only stayed one night as this property is not conducive to a longer stay for a party of six. The main floor carpet is very stained. The frig is slightly larger than a dorm frig. The hot tub is shared with other units and was too hot (as in scalding) to use. It was close to VNP which was a big plus. Neighborhood was quiet.
