Das Hotel ist eine Oase der Ruhe mitten im Epizentrum des Nachtlebens. Nettes gemischtes Publikum aus aller Welt. Das Personal spricht relativ gut Englisch. Die Zimmer sind klein, aber gut durchdacht. Wer das Doppelbett bucht muss seine/n Mitteisende/n schon sehr gern mögen oder unter 1,75cm groß sein. 600 Meter zum Shijuku Bahnhof, Münzwaschsalon im Haus.

Erwartungsgemäß sind die Zimmer klein und es fehlt ein Kleiderschrank - man lebt also während des Aufenthalts gezwungener Maßen aus dem Koffer. Wir fanden das akzeptabel, denn man befindet sich inmitten von Shinjuku und nur wenige Schritte vom Golden Gai entfernt. Ich würde bei meinem nächsten Aufenthalt wieder das Citadines wählen - die Vorteile überwiegen die Kompromisse bei weitem.

The hotel is ideally situated in a lively bar district, although the area can appear somewhat untidy in the mornings due to remnants from the previous night's festivities. One might encounter individuals promoting local bars, which sometimes include a table charge. Nearby, there are plentiful indoor dining options, though the exuberance of the nightlife may affect the immediate cleanliness of the surroundings.

The selection of food in the buffet could be better. I personally prefer Japanese cuisine. Only 2 pillows were provided for me and my husband. The cleaners trashed a shoebox of a newly bought shoes! Aren’t they just supposed to throw away stuff that’s in the trash can? The guest’s personal items in the room should not be thrown away until guests have checked out.

Great location, many really good restaurants near the hotel. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The on site restaurant is a quality buffet with fresh, good tasting food selections. Lots of shopping options a 5 minute walk away and walkable access to Shinjuku station gets you on a train to anywhere in Tokyo. Even though Shinjuku station is considered the busiest train station in the world, it's laid out nicely and navigating it with the help of Google maps and the english signs is really pretty easy.

Overall, a decent hotel to stay in. We were there for a week and stayed in shinjuku because we thought it was central for many of the areas we were intending on visiting. The room is small, only room for shoes and 2 full sized luggages to remain open. Otherwise, your shopping bags will have to start piling up on the little couch. This is typical for Japanese hotels. We had issues with the AC and had to have the front desk reset the AC unit. After they did that, it was fine. Convenient with a Lawson’s store downstairs for water and last minute items. Now, the area. Kabukicho area in Shinjuku is known to have the highest crime rates in Tokyo (didn’t know this prior) and you’ll notice a lot of bars, hostess bars, girls holding signs on the sidewalk, Nigerians trying to lure men into these bars or massage parlors, etc. Didn’t feel safe area. Always needed to do a headcount with our group to make sure we were all there as we walked the streets looking for places to eat. Most places had good food, a lot of MSG so you’ll feel a little thirsty and swollen by end of day, lol! Please be sure to check your bill. I think sometimes they take advantage of the tourists. Anyway, we had a good time overall and this hotel was convenient. Also, take the shinjuku-sanchome stop off of the Marunouchi line as this stop is closer to the hotel versus the shinjuku main station stop.

The room service person lost my lock while cleaning the room. And one of the foreign from desk person acting super obnoxious when I approached him for questions with my broken Japanese. The experience at this hotel was generally good. The service and staff were very friendly and helpful, including with sending our luggage to Kyoto. The rooms were okay, the bathroom was nice. A bit dirty in certain places in the room, but otherwise fine. The area was super central, but a bit noisy at night (lots of sounds from outside and not completely soundproof rooms). This is a budget-category hotel in a central, convenient and interesting location. The rooms are quite small but reasonably comfortable. Our room was perfectly clean but some common areas (not the restaurant) were dirty. The staff are excellent, both helpful and knowledgeable. We would have preferred that breakfast open earlier. It's important to note that despite being located in a pretty raucous neighborhood, the hotel rooms are superbly insulated for sound and so the experience is one of blissful quiet.

Did not meet Expectation
Unfortunately advertised pictures did not match the actual standard of accommodation. I would rate this as just making it to average. We understand Tokyo rooms can be 'compact', but the rooms fellow travelers stayed in were exceptionally small, they were disappointed with the size/layout, very tight squeeze! I have stayed at a number of other Citadines which have been of a much higher standard of accommodation than experienced here. Hotel is close to station and right on the Golden Gai bar lanes which are a bit of fun if that is your thing. We still had a great stay in Tokyo, but my expectations were not met at this hotel.

First with the good.. excellent location, right next to golden gai and really popular areas with lots to do and see! Great food options near by. Close to stations. Staff were polite and sweet. Very helpful. Room had the essentials. Now onto the not so great.. the hotel is quite dated.the rooms are carpeted. So it just looked quite old and didn't feel super clean. The rooms are small for the comparable price in the area. The tea and coffee selection in the room didn't have green tea.. which would have been a nice touch. They serve free coffee from 12pm to 8pm.. which I find strange as I thought most people take coffee in the morning.
