Tellico River Retreat

Completely unplug after touring the Cherohala Skyway or hiking at the falls in our private rustic cabin on the water just two minutes off the world-famous Cherohala Skyway on Tellico River. This queen bed one-room cabin with a full bathroom has all of the essentials you need for a quiet couples getaway or small family trip. Enjoy the scenic views of the river on the deck overlooking the water, or walk down to the river to relax by the firepit and build a fire.

The space
This is a small cabin with kitchenette with all of the basic essentials to have meals at home. All linens are provided. There is a queen bed that sleeps two, a pullout couch that could sleep two children or two small adults, a small table and chairs, and a full bathroom with tub. We really want our guests to relax and enjoy the outdoors on the deck with table and chairs, and a new firepit down by the river. Dogs are allowed for a $50 fee each. No smoking in the cabin.

Once I got the passcode and went inside I was pleasantly surprised to even find coffee and condiments. Lots of towels, no soaps, the unit water, hot and cold, we're backwards in the bathroom but everywhere else works just fine. The place was very clean very simple but it could have used a bigger table and chairs. Another surprise was they even had a barbecue grill out back and there was charcoal and lighter fluid, nice touch. The only minor nitpick were all the dead bugs in the windows because I was able to open the windows and have fresh air and listen to the stream but the window sills were full of dead bugs

The property was clean upon entry. From there it went downhill. It has no oven to cook in very limited on fundamentals for meal prep. Air conditioning would not keep up in 70’s temperatures outside from there the most dangerous was the deck railing if leaned against your going over the side of hill. And possibly getting seriously hurt or paralyzed. I advise that until repairs are made venomous does not rent this property out again. I discussed with owner a partial refund because I could only stay 2 of the 4 days I booked it for due to the heat and danger from decking then venom removed the feedback I had left. So I will not recommend bro to anyone else

Get Cabin clean and Just what we needed came down with my Husband daughter and grand baby this was the perfect getaway loved sitting on the back porch overlooking the river it had everything we needed. We will definitely be staying there again in the future.

Perfect Getaway

Me and my hubby enjoyed our getaway and stay at this cute little cabin. It was perfect in every way. Accessibility to The Tellico River, waking up in the morning and having a coffee by the river was amazing. Had everything we needed for a private perfect getaway. The hosts were very communicable and even accommodated us by bringing a small grill so we could grill out one evening. We will be back again!!!!

I loved the property and the location. It was a slice of heaven and what we were looking for for our family get away to visit family in the area. The only thing I feel that needs addressed is the cleanliness of the cabin in general. There were signs of pests,dirty dishes put back as clean (could be the guests reasonability for cleaning dishes but a simple look over by the cleaner and it could have been addressed) along with the spare pillow and blanket not being clean. It was like they were folded up and put in the bag without being washed because they were visibly dirty. I did not contact the owner as we were only in for a couple days and had a very busy schedule so I did not give them a chance to replace the spare linens. I do believe they would have fixed the issue given a chance because their communication before and after was attentive. This cabin was very affordable and I don't expect things to be perfect just a little cleaner. Over all we enjoyed our stay and would book again.

It was a very nice and peaceful stay. There isn’t a tv but there was board games and a river right in the back yard so need for a tv! Was able to spend quality time with the family with no electronics in the way! Perfect little get away!

Nice spot, but some maintenance needed

The location is excellent - just a minute from town and the Cherohala Skyway. The waterfront is nice, and coffee on the deck in the morning is great. The cabin has all the necessities, but is very basic. As others say there's no TV or wifi, though cell service is passable (Verizon), but that's not why you come to a place like this. As for some negatives, I noticed the same septic smell another reviewer mentioned, and the air conditioner is fairly loud and has a hard time keeping up even at night (I stayed there in August). Letting in some fresh cool air in the mornings helped on both counts. A little TLC would take this place from good to great.
