  • Diese Wohnung befindet sich in einer geräumigen, neu renovierten Scheune in Maine auf einem schönen und historischen Bauernhof. Es ist fünf Minuten zu Fuß von der nahe gelegenen malerischen Morgan Bay entfernt, ganz in der Nähe von Wanderwegen, Fahrradfahren und Schwimmen. Der Acadia National Park ist ca. 45 Minuten entfernt.

    Die Farm bietet ein saisonabhängiges Zentrum für darstellende Künste, in dem unter anderem Klassiker, Jazz-, Singer-Songwriter- und Blues-Serien gezeigt werden.

    Nur wenige Mietflächen bieten all dies in einem Umkreis von zehn Minuten.

Hütte

Wir sind mit 5 Erwachsenen angereist. Die Hütte war für 6 Personen ausgeschrieben. Als wir an ankamen, traf mich der Schlag. Wir wohnten zwei Tage in einem ehemaligen Kuhstall in einem Raum. So hatte ich die Bilder vorher nicht interpretiert. Nach jetziger Durchsicht aber klar. Das fünfte Bett war gar nicht da. Alan hatte dann eine aufblasbare Matratze vom Dachboden geholt und unsere Tochter hat dann anm Esstisch geschlafen, da sonst kein Platz war. Die WC-Tür konnte man nicht abschließen, es gab nicht genug Teller. Die Ausstattung war sehr minimalistisch. Nach dem ersten Schock hatten wir trotzdem zwei schöne Tage mit einem Ausflug in den Park Acadia. Dieses Appartement ist eigentlich nur für zwei Personen zu empfehlen. Der Preis für fünf Personen in so einer Unterkunft ist schon frech

Acadia trip

Just the quiet needed

I came here stressed and this was the perfect place to unwind. Saw some very cool wildlife. Came for Acadia which is about an hour away (CANNOT beat the price for being relatively close).

Lovely peaceful setting near Acadia

Apartment with a view…

Alan was very helpful, a good host. This place is on the rustic side, but it is clean and has everything you need to prepare meals or simply make coffee. The country view is beautiful and is a great place to escape the tourist heavy cities in Acadia.

Alan was very hospitable during our stay. He walked us through the rental and offered recommendations for local restaurants, hike trails, and viewpoints. Alan was only a phone call away whenever we needed anything or had any questions.

Beautiful rustic cottage with a view

The uniqueness of the property was very inviting. Everything about the stay was very comfortable and it's a very quiet location.I was able to go for a nature walk just .1 miles away and bike to a beach that was 2.4 miles away. It was a bit of a distance from Bar Harbor but a lovely scenic drive to get there and back. Alan was a wonderful host and we did a lovely campfire one of the evenings.

All that you need (and more)

Very nice, full kitchen (which I didn't really need!). Bathrooms are more than adequate with plenty of hot water. May be slightly more rustic if that's not your thing (or, just what you want if it is!)

Very quiet property. Beautiful view of Acadia. Very well equipped for a multi-day stay. Full size refrigerator, new induction cook top, new cook ware. Great internet service. Small music venue on site with performances often. Owner very helpful and accommodating by allowing us to bring our 2 small dogs.

Alan (the owner) I don’t think uses the Vrbo app so he will reach out to you by phone number place was nice and clean didn’t really have a view though but I wasn’t there for the view I wanted to go see the place which I did but it’s a nice place would stay again. But if your are staying multiple days make sure to bring your own shampoo and body wash

Could be good

If you are going to stay here, I suggest one of the cabins which look great. As for the “apartment with a view” - your view most likely will be other guests grilling just a few feet from your bedroom window on what turns out to be a communal deck, or sitting at the fire ring in front of the apartment with the smoke wafting inside. On the very hot, muggy nights I was there I had to close my windows (and, for privacy, my blinds).

Wrong cabin. Nasty, grimy. Owner is a JERK! Screamed at me where to drive/park, etc as if I’d been there before. Do not stay here.

Enjoyably Rustic and Peaceful

A good base camp for visiting the Acadia National Park area without the maddening crowds.. we enjoyed the 45 minute drive each way to/from the Acadia NP area... light traffic on the 2-lane highways/roadways to Ellsworth made this a nice way to start and finish each day. But, be sure you stock up on snacks/food to cook because you won't find any nearby restaurants - and that's what makes it such a great location! It's definitely a more rustic interior than your typical hotel/motel but that's part of the charm. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware and utensils, etc. and the overall open layout is very "loft" like. We really enjoyed the location and the host is welcoming and informative - they've been in the area for decades and are a great resource.

Not what we expected

We did not end up staying here because of the quality of the room. The carpet was wet, it was smaller than expected, and the entryway was dirty and had cobwebs. Despite my filing out the form for 5 adults, the owner was surprised we had adults. He did promptly offer us a refund, but we ended up spending double on a last-minute hotel room because of the change.

Surry Barn Apartment

The apartment was not as it appeared in VRBO photos. The pics must have been taken by a professional photographer when you compare the actual place to the “apartment.” It was clean but extremely rustic - and perhaps this is ok with some. The smell is very musty perhaps because this is an actual renovated barn. There are three apartments in this barn which could also make it very noisy at times. Views are not as portrayed. However, the host, Alan, was very friendly and we enjoyed meeting him.
