Check out our last remaining openings as of 8/7/2025. This is a wonderful opportunity to take advantage of great late summer weather and all South Haven has to offer at lower nightly rates and reduced nightly minimums during the leisurely bumper season!

About The Oakland South
This historic vacation rental sits 1 block from gorgeous North Beach and its family friendly playground & concessions. Located in historic Monroe Park, our place boasts four bedrooms, three full bathrooms, loads of living space, lake views to the west and a beautifully appointed kitchen with marina views to the east. Sit on the front patio and enjoy people watching and sunsets on the lake. Grill on the private deck, play yard games on a soft green lawn, and watch boats pass by from the back yard.

The entire home and private deck are yours to enjoy. The front & back lawns and the front patio are common areas shared with our neighbors and their guests at the Oakland North. There are two dedicated off-street parking spaces for this unit.

The Ice Breaker - First Weekend of February! - heats up downtown with it's annual Snowsuit Fashion Show, outdoor ice sculpting, chili cook-off, cardboard sled racing, frozen fish fling, fire-pits for s'mores, Pub Slide, horse-drawn wagon rides, ice skating and live entertainment all weekend.

Fantastic family beach vacation

Our three generation family spent a wonderful week at this lovely renovated beach house. It’s a short block to both the beach and the river. It’s well laid out with plenty of seating and very well provisioned with cleaning supplies, paper products dish ware, games, and toys. The owner was very thoughtful and responsive. We would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful property. Incredible location. The pictures don’t do it justice this property has everything you need. We had the best family getaway. We enjoyed morning walks to the beach, coffee on the back porch and sunset views on the front porch. This property is close to everything. You can walk to the beach and to town in minutes. We’ve been coming to South Haven for years and this was by far our favorite stay!

Weekend getaway

Had the best weekend getaway with the girls. This house had everything we need to make the best birthday ever. The beach was super close and even though it was too cold to enjoy, looking out the front window at the beautiful sunset made us feel like it was a beach weekend. House was perfect!

Family Time

It was a wonderful location, close to everything and yet quiet. We had plenty of room for our 5 adults and two children. We loved how easy it was to get to the beach and appreciated the beach chairs and sand toys. The kitchen had what we needed to cook and loved having a grill and large deck with a table.

Fabulous!

The property was laid out beautifully with the bedroom and a full bath on the main floor for my elderly mother and the upstairs accommodations were beautiful and fit our family well. The kitchen was gorgeous and roomy, and the gathering spaces around the extra large dining table and the sectional was perfect for everyone. we will definitely book again

LOVED the short walk to the beach!!

Great location, very close to North Beach. Loved that there was parking for two cars in the lot outback. The gas grill was nice for cooking out and the kitchen was great and fully stocked for making meals. We really enjoyed our stay, thank you!!

Short walk to North Beach

This home is absolutely beautiful, even better than the pictures! Home had been recently remodeled. The decor is fresh and cozy. No expense was spared. Bedding was luxurious. House was very well supplied with everything we needed from beach chairs to zip lock bags. Our group of nine adults had plenty of space for sleeping or just lounging around watching TV. The large farm house table fit our group comfortably plus there was another big table on the afternoon-shaded back deck. The 1 block walk to the beach was very convenient! We will definitely rent this wonderful home again!

Best vacation!

After family vacations to FL and SC we decided to try South Haven MI. We absolutely loved it! Our house was perfect and a great location, just 1 block from the beach. We were able to walk everywhere and really enjoyed the cooler temps and beautiful beach! The Oakland house was well equipped and the owner was very responsive to our questions and requests. We will definitely go back!

Perfect in every way!

Great stay that exceeded our expectations in every way! Location was great, short walk to beach that was easily made multiple times each day, close to playground, ice cream snack shop, bundes bakery, and even a back up ice cream shop after the beach one closed was easily walked by our kids ranging from 3-14. (Ice cream is a priority!) Great family beach that wasn’t crowded even during peak week. The house was pristine, like new inside, and was stocked with everything - EVERYTHING! Toys, books, everything you could need for the beach including life vests which we forgot! Cot was clutch for our family sleeping arrangements and easily set up with sheets easily found. Dining table fit all 10 of us! Quiet area in the evenings. Parking was steps from back door. Communications were clear and concise and hosts exceptionally accommodating. Will definitely be first in the list when looking to go back to South Haven!
