Possibly the best hotel in Sorong - as a gateway to Raja Ampat. Useful, practical hotel, small pool if you'd like it, and good breakfast. Staff at the restaurant can be a bit slow. It is not a luxury resort - so staying there for one or two nights is great. Top tip: if you arrive from Jakarta after a long journey with the plane over night at 6am, do yourself a favour to book the room for two nights, so you can go straight to your room (and breakfast) and crash. Helps with jet lag! Hotel can arrange pickup, too. Not much else to do in the area, though.

Das Hotel ist sehr laut. Mann hört, wenn der Nachbar telefoniert oder hustet. Ein angenehmer Schlaf ist nicht möglich. Das Zimmer ist sehr verwohnt.Dies ist für € 97 viel zu teuer.

Sehr gut
Sorong ist nicht gerade der "place to be", aber für Raja Ampat muss man da halt "durch". Das Swiss-Belhotel war perfekt für uns. Es ist sauber, hat bequeme Betten, ein reichhaltiges Frühstücksbuffet. Unser Zimmer hatte einen schönen Blick auf den Hafen.

Solides Hotel für einen Stopover in Sorong
Wir haben zwei mal eine Nacht in dem Hotel verbracht. Die Zimmer sind klein, aber ausreichend und sauber. Das Bett ist bequem. Es gibt einen kleinen sauberen Pool und es liegt nicht weit vom Flughafen entfernt. Das Personal ist freundlich. Preis-Leistung ist sehr gut.

Oase der Ruhe
Wie viele Reisende wählte ich den Hotelaufenthalt, um am nächsten Tage sicher die Weiterflüge mit Garuda zu erreichen. Kam von homestays auf den inseln kri und gam. Nach vier wochen dort wirkte das hotel wie der reine luxus.

The hotel is in dire need of maintenance. The bedsheets were dirty and water was shut off without any warning to the customers. We checked out 3 hours after checking in. I would not stay there.

Rooms need work
Most of the hotel is in pretty good shape. However, my room was disappointing. The air conditioning was noisy and needed replacement. Did not work very well. The walls were desperately in need of paint. And the shower was only lukewarm water.

Clean, good service, good breakfast included, good Wi-Fi but the employees are not fluent on English. Besides, the front desk receptionist sent me for a walk at the local market. Advice: Don't do that. Terrible walkway conditions, very hot and even dangerous. The neighborhood is far from what I expected; no pretty beaches nor historical interesting places to kill time. It is definitely a place to sleep one night and move to your liveaboard or whatever you went there to do.

There were not enough electrical outlets in the room. There was only one in the bathroom, one for the coffee pot and one at the desk. None by the bed at all. We had to request and get an extension cord for my husband's C-pap machine. Also, the AC worked poorly and the repair man was not very helpful or friendly the first time he came. The second time, after we knew there was no improvement, he fixed it, but it shouldn't have taken two requests. The front desk needed staff that spoke English a bit better. It was very, very hard to understand them.

Confortable mais cher au vu des prestations
Hôtel très confortable, c'est juste dommage qu'il soit si cher pour la prestation (les prix du restaurant sont très élevés pour la région, le prix de la nuit également). Petite piscine avec 4 transats. Lits confortables, relativement propre (ne pas regarder sous le lit). Eau chaude et pression. Restaurant OK mais rien d'exceptionnel surtout pour le prix, le petit warung juste à côté est bien mieux pour les amateurs de cuisine locale !

This was our second time here and had a similar experience both times. Great food- terrible service. Fortunately the included breakfast is a wonderful buffet of anything and everything and you don’t need to rely on the inefficient wait staff. The bed was large and comfy, rooms were spacious and clean, and showers were hot. Perfect place to stay for a night before or after the ferry from Waisai.

Room was fine and AC worked. But the in-room refrigerator and hair dryer did not work. Quite a few of the boards in the deck to get to the pool were in very unsafe condition. Room service menu and what they actually offered did not match. And the language barrier with the person answering the room service phone (even though I was just using a language that was on the menu) made it impossible to figure out what they actually offered for room service. Room service is closed much of the night through noon.

Disappointing
The hotel maybe the best in town but it is pretty poor. They refused to give any of our group 2 keys for the room even though there was 2 in each room and you need the key to operate the elevator! There seems to be no management around! The food was ok but service was slow mainly because they expected 1 waiter to cope with 40 odd guests. The showers in the rooms either didnt work well with no pressure or had no hot water.

Stay at the Swiss-Helhotel Sorong
The Swiss-Belhotel Sorong is a very nice, Western-style hotel with a good restaurant. Our room was pleasing, very clean, and the bed was comfortable. It is a good place to stay before going to Raja Ampat to dive or snorkel. This hotel offers a shuttle service from the airport, which is very helpful, but you have to pay for it.

Considering the location the hotel does a good job. The breakfast buffet is good but the dinners offered are just ok. You are better off going to the Marina restaurant nearby.

I stayed in this hotel as a lay-over between a liveaboard trip in Raja Ampat and my outbound flight. The hotel was a very good choice for this. The rooms were nice, the shower is strong, there is a nice swimming pool. We ate at a local restaurant right next to the hotel, which was also very nice.
