Sehr freundliches Personal. Grosse, saubere Zimmer. Ich war nicht mit dem Auto da, have aber gesehen, dass es eine grosse Garage gleich beim Hotel gibt. Die Lage ist nicht ganz zentral, aber alles ist gut zu Fuss erreichbar.

Check in at this pub-with-rooms almost didn’t happen as, after being told for 9 minutes by staff that “someone” was coming to hand over the room key, I was ready to walk out and find somewhere else. Eventually the unapologetic omanager arrived and issued me with a key to a room in a terrace of rooms down the side of the car park. I checked for CCTV cameras as the area did not look that secure, there were plenty of them which was a relief. The room was OK, the bed looked clean though the carpet was not and the bathroom ceiling had barely-concealed mould above the shower. Dinner was good, and the service was so much better than I had expected following the experience with the manager. Picking out a knife and fork from the cutlery drawer showed knives with congealed food on them and grubby forks so the dishwasher needs some training. The table was sticky, and the napkin ended up being bonded on a molecular level with the surface, I really could not pick it all off. It’s standard pub fare with plenty of high-calorie fried or grilled options and a good selection of non-alcoholic beers. Just wash your hands AFTER eating. Breakfast was a different story with good service and staff who at least gave the impression that they were happy to be there. If you’re looking for somewhere cheap and handy for the M1, it’s a good place to stay. I slept well at least. If you’re looking for some refinement and comfort you’d be advised to look elsewhere. I wish I had.

Good location on the outskirts of Leicester. Ample free parking,good value for the room. Would stay again.

Room was clean and tidy, my only criticism is the rooms need blackout curtains. I was staying in the summer and working late into the night/early mornings so needed to sleep in but the curtains were quite thin and on bright mornings it was difficult to sleep in. There is plenty of free parking, the staff were all very helpful and the breakfast was very nice and affordable. I would definitely stay again.
