The hotel is situated outside the city centre at a busy street. The centre can be reached in about 10-15 minutes by taxi. As everywhere in Taiwan plenty of convenience stores around; a McDonald’s across the street.
Staff is very friendly and caring.

Meine Frau und ich hatten das Vergnügen, eine Woche im Regent Hotel in Taipei zu verbringen, und unser Erlebnis war durchweg erstklassig. Wir waren im 19. Stock untergebracht und genossen die exklusiven Vorteile der Tai Pan Lounge in vollen Zügen.
Besonders beeindruckend war der persönliche und aufmerksame Service des Personals. Es ist bemerkenswert, dass sie bereits nach kurzer Zeit unsere individuellen Vorlieben für das Frühstück und den Nachmittagstee kannten – ein Zeichen echter Gastfreundschaft!
Unser Zimmer war stets makellos sauber, sehr ordentlich und mit allem ausgestattet, was man für einen komfortablen und angenehmen Aufenthalt benötigt.

"The hotel is in a nice district. It is clearly intended as a budget accommodation. Our room was quite small. The bed is nice but the rest of the facilities are not in the best conditions. The price got bumped up 1.5x due to public holidays, which feels disproportionate to the comfort we enjoyed."

They even helped me print and scan something urgent for work in the middle of the night, and organised an airport taxi and even accompanied us outside to see us off. Ximending area is very entertaining and you find a vast variety of restaurants/food/bar/shopping options all in walking distance. The hotel is fairly new, and modern, and maintained in a very good state. Our room was quite spacious and kept very clean. Only downside for us was that you could hear the noise from the busy street, even though we had our room on the 14th floor. But we would definitely stay there again. "Das Hotel liegt gegenüber vom Szeneviertel Ximending. Dem sollte man sich bewusst sein, wenn man ein Zimmer mit Fenster bucht, die Umgebungsgeräusche sind schon laut. Man kann aber gut schlafen, wenn man den Tag über aktiv war. Die Einkaufsmöglichkeiten in der Umgebung sind prima, ebenso die Restaurantauswahl. Einen Zugang zur Ubahn findet man direkt vor der Tür. Das Frühstück war prima und sehr vielfältig. Die Zimmer waren zudem sehr sauber und es hat an nichts gefehlt."

I liked:
(1) The friendliness of the staff.
(2) The cleanliness and functionality of the entire hotel.
(3) The extensive breakfast is included in the price, both Western and Chinese breakfast are offered.
(4) The good price-performance ratio.
(5) The free use of the washing machine and dryer.
I didn't like:
(1) There is no wardrobe in the room to store or hang up clothes you have brought with you - this is not mentioned at all in the room description. There are only a few coat hangers and a few hooks (in the inexpensive rooms). The more expensive ones also have a few open shelves in the bathroom area.
(2) On some nights, the residents of neighboring rooms were quite loud before 6:00 am or after 10:00 pm, which showed that the hotel's soundproofing is not optimal. It is also very strange that the hotel rents rooms to school groups whose students show no consideration for other guests at all.
(3) There are no international TV channels such as CNN or BBC, only Taiwanese and some Japanese channels.
(4) The nearest MRT station, Mingde, is about a 20-minute walk away, so you always have to take a bus to Zhishan, Shilin or Jiantan MRT stations first. In addition, the buses often get stuck in traffic jams, which are very common on Zhongshan North Road. A trip to Taipei 101, for example, can take an hour in total."
