Eclipse 2024
We really enjoyed staying at this cozy, well-equipped lake house. Everything was available to make the stay an enjoyable one. The driveway entrance and property were cleared for our arrival following a significant snowstorm. Communicating with the owner was a pleasure, with every a phone call or text message answered. Who would’ve thought seeing the solar eclipse of 2024 would be so easy and exciting! It was the owner and accommodations that made it all possible for planning the trip. Great place to stay!
We were very pleased with this rental! It was very clean, everything worked great (kitchen, TV, shower) and the property owner was very accommodating and friendly. We didn’t get to enjoy the lake due to the time of year but I plan on going back. I highly recommend!

Doc's Place review
Loved everything about this place and Doc himself. I had problems texting him though because I would get sent to the Vrbo website and from there was unable to send my msgs. IDK where they ended up but not with Doc. It didn't matter a great deal, as I was able to find the answers to my questions on the reservation confirmation but it was a bit irksome to think I was not able to contact the property owner directly had I really needed to.

We had a wonderful weekend at Doc’s. The cottage has everything you could possibly need for a stay away from home. We arrived an hour early and Doc was more than happy to accommodate. He showed us around the cottage inside and out. The property is beautiful. We will definitely be back!

What makes for good vibes? I don't know, but this place has them. The owner may be part of it - he really cares that you have a good time. The place is charming, so comfortable, and right across the road from the lake. I will go again!

Fabulous place to stay, so relaxing and right across the street from a perfect lake. The hosts were incredible and the place was near perfect, having just about everything you would need. I would definitely recommend and we plan on returning next year.

Great time at Doc's Lakehouse
Comfortable and cozy! A quiet place to relax and unwind. Beautiful lake front access. We enjoyed kayaking on the lake, and relaxing by the Leicester River (brook?) that runs behind the cabin. It was running pretty fast after all the rain this summer! Doc and Missy were wonderful hosts, always available to answer any questions we had. We will definitely be back!

Relaxing place by the lake
Had a nice mini vacation by the lake. The vacation rental was just across the street from lake access. Loved being able to take out the kayak. Only minor problem was not being able to hang out with extended family in the private area near the lake (guests of guests are not allowed). We really enjoyed the fire pit near the stream.

Nice location and great hosts
We arrived here for a long weekend visiting family in area. This cottage is in a beautiful location with the lake across the road and river in the back. The host (Gary) was extremely welcoming and it was nice to know he was nearby if needed. Easy to access entry, very well lit in evening. the house is very comfortable for 2 people providing everything we needed for our stay including a well supplied kitchen, outside grill, fire pits , I wish we had more time to enjoy all there was to do. House was very clean and there were plenty of towels, also bed was extremely comfortable, and area is very quiet, we slept really well, which doesn't always happen away from home. I hope to make a return visit sometime as this was a lovely stay. Would be possible for more than 2 people to stay, but both bedrooms have to pass through the (single) bathroom in order to access main areas of cottage.

Doc and Missy are excellent hosts. As soon as we entered the door we felt like we were home very clean comfortable accommodations. Kitchen was fun to cook our meals in the outdoor space is just so enjoyable! Slept like a dream we will definitely come back!

Great Vermont Lakeside Getaway
Gary’s place was the perfect quaint cabin for a Vermont getaway. Great location right on the lake (definitely looking forward to visiting again in the summer) and not a bad drive from Killington and Sugarbush. They were very accommodating and communicative hosts who made sure everything was just right.

Our stay was very comfortable at Gary and Missy's apartment. The place is fully stocked and its location is perfect. As other reviewers noted, the bathroom is located oddly but it was not a problem for us. Would be great to spend time here in summer. Gary and Missy were great hosts!

Lovely rental in a fantastic location.
My mom and I spent a few days at Doc’s during the fall colors and it was a perfect spot. The cabin is very cozy and it really feels like a lot of consideration was given to making guests feel comfortable.

Wonderful stay!!!
Location location location! The waterfront area is amazing and so is the backyard fire pit along the creek! Love the place and surrounding adventures that we had! Green Mountains national Forest in Brandnberry State Park are literally directly across the lake in less than a five minute drive. Enjoyed hiking to Rattlesnake point and Silver Lake. Many thanks to Gary, he is a wonderful host

VIntage Camp
A charming camp with knotty pine paneling and updates such as Smart TV. Plenty of fans for the hotter days. There is a quirky situation- you need to go through the bathroom to get to the 2 bedrooms. So to get privacy you need to close 3 doors and hope no one needs to go in or out while you're in there! Probably not an issue for a family with little kids, but for 2 couples it can be awkward. Nice grassy lakefront area across the road- and the best view of Mt Moosalamoo!

Life on the lake!
We enjoyed three nights and four days at Doc's cabin and found it to be the getaway we needed. The place has such character and comfortable accommodations. We were able to settle in right away. Having access to the lake and all the additional equipment was such a benefit! We took advantage of the fire pit and spent most of our evenings watching the water and relaxing. Doc was especially friendly and willing to help us with anything that came up (nothing did but we knew we could contact him!) We hope to go back some day in the future!

Relaxation at Doc’s Lake House in Lake Dunmore
So lucky to have been able to have found this little gem!! Beautiful downstairs of a lake house on Lake Dunmore that has been remodeled but the owners were still able to keep the vintage feel; couldn’t have asked for anything more. Our hosts were incredibly kind and the most down to earth people you could meet. I hope for many more years to come of summer vacations at Doc’s Lake house. My husband and I thank you for such a wonderful and true Vermont stay!

This was a beautiful location and an amazing stay. Gorgeous river right out behind the house. Tons of snow so Doc plowed a path out to the river and fire pit and gave us kindling and wood for a fire. Cozy warm house, beds were super comfortable. We loved everything about our stay.

We found it to be cozy and comfortable. Loved the interior set up. And the location was great as we were close to many of the ski resorts and popular sites. The owner’s were extremely friendly and helpful. Would stay there again should we venture into Vermont again on vacation. And was glad to see that they excepted pets, very few places do and that makes it hard for renters who love traveling with there pets. I give Gary and his wife 5 stars , and would strongly recommend there place if your touring Vermont. Thumbs up Gary. And thank you for making us feel comfortable during our stay. 👍

Exactly what we needed
We wanted a no frills, clean place near Middlebury but not in town and this was great for that. Hosts were very responsive and it's evident they really try to make their guests feel welcome. Easy walk to the pub across the street (typ bar food, amazing IPA), and right across from lake. We visited in December so not much lake action, but in the summer this place is perfect for a lake retreat. Love the area, would definitely come back!

Our stay at Doc's Place
We (Me, wife & 2 grandchildren) enjoyed our stay at Doc's place. The house was very clean with ample space for the four of us. The private water access area across the road was very nice, complete with chairs and floats. We liked the location, close to the lake and also the town of Middlebury. The house was also very close the the Waterhouse campground where our daughter's family was staying. The house did have some quirks such as the bathroom being located on the access to the two bedrooms, but we were able to manage this without issue. Also the WIFI would cut in and out on us, but we were in rural Vermont (our daughter also had issues with the WIFI at the campground). All in all, we had a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Thanks for having us at your home.

Missy and Gary are great hosts and the cottage is so nicely decorated and clean. The kayaks and fire pit make the waterfront area welcoming. They have many special touches that make it the perfect play to relax on Lake Dunmore. I’ll definitely be back!

Getaway at Doc’s!
We lucked out with perfect weather, which added to our immense enjoyment of Doc’s Lake House. The house was comfortable and spacious enough for the four adults in our party. Its location just a short walk away from the public boat launch and adjacent commercial marina made bringing and using our boat easy. The large grassy area (right on the lake!) across the road may be shared by four houses, but we had it to ourselves except for the first night when we visited with the house’s owners around a fire. Speaking of the owners, they were friendly, helpful, and generous. Missy even gave us local honey to take back with us. Beds comfortable and renovated house wonderfully quirky. We would definitely stay there again.
