Küstenrückzugsort zwischen Camden und Rockland

  • Summary:

Welcome to our coastal retreat in Glen Cove, a private one-bedroom apartment within a thoughtfully restored 1910 home overlooking Penobscot Bay. We fell in love with Midcoast Maine years ago, were married in Rockport, and have always been drawn to the area’s historic homes, working waterfronts, small towns, and incredible coastline. As designers, we love old houses and the stories they tell, and we’ve worked to breathe new life into this home while preserving the character that makes it special.

The apartment combines the charm of an older Maine home with the comforts you want for a relaxing stay, including a king bedroom, full kitchen and bathroom, comfortable living space, in-unit laundry, dedicated parking, and shared outdoor patios. The water is directly across Commercial Street, giving the property a distinctly coastal setting and easy access to everything Midcoast Maine has to offer.

Glen Cove sits between Camden and Rockland, with both downtowns about 10 minutes away. Spend the morning walking Camden Harbor, explore Rockland’s restaurants, galleries, and museums, hike nearby trails, visit a lighthouse, or take a day trip farther up or down the coast. At the end of the day, return to a quieter spot along the bay.

This is not a newly built vacation rental designed to look like Maine. It’s an old coastal home with history, character, and a few of the quirks that come with a house built more than a century ago. We hope it feels comfortable, welcoming, and like a genuine place to experience the part of Maine we love.

    The Space:

The apartment is a private one-bedroom retreat within our restored 1910 coastal home. We’re designers who love old houses and have worked to preserve the character and history of the home while making it comfortable for modern stays.

Inside, you’ll find a king bedroom, full bathroom, well-equipped kitchen, comfortable living area, and in-unit laundry. Original details and the quirks of an older Maine home are part of the experience.

Outside, guests have access to shared upper and lower patio areas where you can relax and enjoy the coastal setting. The property sits directly across Commercial Street from the water, with views toward Penobscot Bay.

    Guest Access:

Guests have private access to the entire apartment, including the bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living space, and in-unit laundry.

The upper and lower outdoor patio areas are shared with the rest of the property. Dedicated off-street parking is available directly off Commercial Street.

Entry is through the front door using a keypad, so you can check in on your own without coordinating an arrival time. Detailed arrival and access instructions will be provided before check-in.

    The Neighborhood:

Glen Cove is a quiet coastal neighborhood between Rockport and Rockland, making it a great jumping-off point for exploring Midcoast Maine. The water is directly across Commercial Street, and Camden, Rockport Village, and downtown Rockland are all just a short drive away.

Spend the day exploring Camden’s harbor and shops, Rockland’s restaurants and art museums, nearby hiking trails, beaches, lighthouses, and small coastal towns, then come back to a quieter spot along the bay.

We especially love this part of Maine because it feels removed without being isolated. You’re close to many of the area’s best destinations while still getting the character of a small coastal neighborhood.

    Getting Around:

A car is the easiest way to explore the area. Dedicated off-street parking is available at the property directly off Commercial Street.

Rockport Village, downtown Rockland, and Camden are all within about a 10-minute drive, giving you easy access to restaurants, shops, galleries, museums, harbors, and other local attractions.

Commercial Street/Route 1 is the main coastal route through the area, making day trips throughout Midcoast Maine easy. While there are places to walk nearby, we recommend a car for most exploring.

    Other Things to Note:

This is a historic 1910 home, and part of its charm comes from the character and quirks you would expect from an older coastal property.

The home is located along Commercial Street/Route 1. While this makes Camden, Rockport, Rockland, and the rest of Midcoast Maine very accessible, guests should expect some passing road noise.

Please also note that the home has steep, historic stairs and was not designed with young children in mind. We do not provide child-specific amenities such as a crib, high chair, baby gates, or outlet covers.

The outdoor patios are shared spaces, although the apartment itself is completely private. Because this is a multi-unit historic home, you may occasionally hear normal sounds from other parts of the property.

    Interaction with Guests:

The apartment is set up for an easy, independent stay with self check-in. We’ll give you your privacy, but we’re always available by message if you have a question, need a recommendation, or if something comes up during your stay.

We love Midcoast Maine and are happy to share our favorite restaurants, towns, hikes, shops, and places to explore if you’re looking for ideas.
