This huge house was decorated in the period of the early 20th Century in a mixed historic area of Rock Island. The dining area was elegantly furnished with impressive breakfast place settings and food. However, we were dismayed at the cleanliness and decor of the 3rd floor dingy bedroom, (torn lampshade, broken shutters, spotted blue carpet, dated and faded bedspread, and bathroom/shower with peeling ceiling. etc. Bath is in need of major repair. Stairs up to the 3rd floor was dusty, shabby carpet needs replacement with proprietor's personal outerwear on steps.) We were told by another guest how wonderful the 2nd floor bedroom was as they had stayed there many times. This was our first time and had hoped to stay in the future as we travel to western Illinois many times in a year. We had initially requested the 2nd floor bedroom through Expedia, then, received a call from the proprietor asking if we could move to the 3rd floor attic room due to a double-booking of the 2nd floor bedroom. We MAY give this B&B a second chance due to the staff friendliness and beautiful festive breakfast. It is this writer's opinion they should never have rented the attic room accommodation to us in the condition it is in. We most like would unwittingly gone to another venue and tried this B&B another time as we enjoy staying at B&B's. I am saddened that I must be honest and write this review as I respect those who attempt to keep a historic property viable.
