Greeted with a demand for a cash payment as soon as I arrived at 11.30pm after a 6 hour journey. I thought Expedia had passed on my bank card details but no, wanted cash NOW. Asked if could sort in the morning but refused, saying I could leave now! She phoned her son who put the phone down on us. All she had to do was hold my passport till I had paid, I am 67 and walk with a stick! Had to go and find a cashpoint to give her the cash. Just got a hand written receipt, not on headed paper. Was accused of damaging the toilet when it started ‘flushing’ and water coming up through the drains in the bathroom at 4am! There was NO kettle in the room and still not got one a week later even though was continually promised one, no facilities to make hot drinks or heat up food but frying pan and saucepans in cupboard. Maid service only the once in the week. My daughter was so concerned by their attitude she paid for me to stay in another hotel for the next night who had one room vacant for one night.. I would have booked elsewhere but all full. I felt I was being treated like a criminal just because a previous guest had left without paying and didn’t feel at all comfortable that week - I stayed out as much as I could. She came in with a receipt book the next day saying she would refund me if I left but wanted 70euros for the night - not the 44 advertised. Phoned her son (again) who said no refund….. I hadn’t even asked for one as I knew all other places were full. A terrible ‘welcome' !
