Nice area, great views, needs a maid
Pros: beautiful spot with great river views, can ride utvs into town, well stocked kitchen Cons: floor decking throughout is loose, squeaky and needs to be renailed. If you get up at night the whole house will know about it. Carpet is stained and dirty as is one of the couches. I suspect it hasnt been vaccumed in several weeks or ever deep cleaned. Obvious areas were wiped off, some surfaces were covered in dust and hair (toilet tank lids). Lights didnt work in kitchen vent hood, over the kitchen sink, and several bulbs were out in dining room and on back porch. Could be a great place if the owner would do some maintenace and hire a cleaning lady to really clean.

Beautiful area with a river running behind the house. Lots of other houses around the cabin. Cabin was basic and rustic--no dishwasher or garbage disposal. Beds and pillows are not new. Pets are allowed so cleanliness is affected. The back porch is the best spot with the sound of the rushing water!

Great cabin and location
The cabin is nestled in a beautiful valley and just a short distance from Red River. The spacious cabin is perfect and our family of 7 and two pets were very comfortable. The sound of the River just 15 feet away was wonderful. The hosts are very friendly and quick to answer questions. Highly Recommend.

Perfect river cabin!
We have rented many cabins over the years and this one was, by far, the best one. The river is running behind the back of the cabin about 15 feet from the very large, comfortable porch. The cabin itself is beautiful, well maintained and clean. The owner has stocked the cabin with games and books to enjoy. The breeze coming through the windows was amazing and the sound of the rushing river was peaceful and can be heard from one of the downstairs bedrooms. We enjoyed our own cooked dinner on the gas grill, the kitchen stove and clean dishes. This cabin is only about 10 minutes or less from the heart of Red River. The owner was very friendly and made himself readily available if we needed. If you want a great location, quiet and private, this is a perfect spot. We are already planning our next vacation in the cabin.

It just doesn't get any better......
This was such a GREAT trip because the location of our stay was PERFECT. This cabin sits 30 feet from the Red River. We sat on the back porch and listened to the river run while the boys fished. There's an upper balcony as well that over-looks the river from a higher vantage point - and my daughter loved the upstairs bedroom/loft area. We started each day with a fire in the beautiful stone fireplace and ended the day star-gazing from the front porch. The owner (nicest guy you'll ever meet) was literally right next door and delivered firewood and any other requests we had within minutes. This location is about 7-10 minutes from Mainstreet in Red River - close enough to all the action, but far enough for some peaceful solitude when needed. It was so hard to leave this little piece of heaven! Going back is not even a question. We will definitely be Fishin' Hole regulars. We loved this place!!!

The Fishing Hole
The location was perfect! Personally, cleanliness is #1 for us. The place was filthy. Dried toothpaste and soap on bathroom sink, dirty tub and toilets. I had to clean before we could use them. The shower curtain was about two feet too long and scrunched up in the tub. The kitchen drawers had rusty utensils, completely disorganized, no can opener. We found dirty socks under both downstairs beds, and a few candy wrappers. Nothing had been dusted. Unbelievable! The tv had little person fingerprint smears. Disgusting! We paid a pet deposit. There was so much poop at the side of the house when we arrived. I cleaned up ALL the poop! Unacceptable!! The grass was 12-18 inches high. Nothing had been weed rated. I came home with chiggers bites all over my feet, ankles, and legs. We spent way too much money for a week long stay, to have to clean. Additionally, morally speaking, it would have been nice to have been told about the wildfires. There were very few activities that could be enjoyed. ***we pay a cleaning fee, pet fee, and $399.00 service fee. For what?? The place is in an excellent location. The river is beautiful!

Sorry about the wildfires and the closing of the national forest. The town of Red River does a great job of updating. We had no idea the can opener was missing, had one at the rental within 10 minutes of your call. I will talk to my cleaning person about doing a more complete job with the bathrooms. I wish you would have said something about the grass on the side of the house and dog poop, we could have had it done quickly. I asked your husband a few times if there was anything you needed. Since I live next door l believe that most of the issues could have been resolved quickly if communicated. Thank you for your input.

Great Cabin on the River
Great location and view. We were impressed from the moment we walked in. The river is literally a few steps away yet it’s shallow and safe for children. We walked around in it together and caught a few fish. The sound, the view and the clean smell of pine make the experience. We’ll be back.

Wonderful week in Red River
We enjoyed our time here very much and shared the cabin with our friends. Loved playing in all the snow, and the trip to town is the perfect distance. Only took us about 10 minutes to get to all our activities. Owners are right next door and made sure we had everything we needed.

Perfect for families or couples
My husband and I brought our teenage sons, their girlfriends, and my nephews. The loft is open yet private. There is living room furniture up there so they could hang out without feeling like the adults were breathing down their necks. There are a few minor things that could be fixed. There is no dishwasher so that can become daunting after a long day of skiing. Owner is next door, very accommodating and non intrusive. We enjoyed our stay very much. Location is great. Even in the cold we enjoyed the back porch. Loved to have had a fire pit or heaters. Definitely recommend!

Spence was right next door and met us in person to help us out and explain a couple of things when we first arrived. He was very helpful. The rental house is beautiful and roomy. The location is perfect for a nice getaway, not far from town. We would 100% stay again!

All around great place to stay
This was by far our best experience renting in Red River, or anywhere for that matter. The location is unbeatable, and the cabin has everything you need for your stay. But the kicker is the hospitality, and Spence was a great host and incredibly friendly and helpful. I would absolutely rent from them again, and will likely seek them out when we go back to Red River next year.

Great weekend getaway at the Fishing Hole
The cabin was exactly as advertised and a wonderful place to have a short vacation with family. Very comfortable inside and beautiful location. The sound of the river was so relaxing. Very convenient to the town of Red River but tucked just far enough away to have some quiet time. Perfect location for my 2 year old to learn how to fish with Grandpa and just play outside on the deck with Grandma. was just the right size for our group. 5 adults, 1 child and a couple of doggies.

Peaceful Fishing Cabin
This is a peaceful little fishing cabin with the river about 20 feet off the back deck. It's set down in the valley amongst the tall pines (hence the "Valley of the Pines" neighborhood). But this property is very much sheltered in the trees. Two bedrooms with a loft with two beds and a small balcony. The back porch is really the piece de resistance to this place. I could sit there all day. Things to know: the bedrooms are not heated, a space heater was found in one closet that we had to use as RR had their first freeze while we were there. Otherwise it does get VERY cold in those bedrooms. The tv in the loft did not work and no remote could be located. The TV downstairs works but no antenna/satellite - we used our own Netflix account to log in. All the hand soap containers were empty as well as the dish soap when we got there - I had double checked the listing to make sure I brought whatever we might need and it did say soap was available. Perhaps just a cleaning lady oversight. The windows all around the cabin were smeared and dirty on the inside so I did find some windex under the sink and cleaned up a few so we could enjoy the beautiful views from inside as well. We were quite pleased with the fishing and the peacefulness. The cabin is set right next to the owners home (which is gorgeous) and another home on the other side a bit further away through some trees. There is a fire pit with stumps and roasting sticks which made for a very fun evening. Pets are allowed. The only thing I could offer to improve is perhaps a change in housekeeper or at least a go-over with her so that things are cleaned properly. Perhaps an upgrade to the heating system. Owner is very pleasant and knowledgeable about the area - he introduced himself and spent a little bit of time chatting with us which was nice. Not intrusive at all. We did spy some deer wandering about the neighborhood and caught some decent-sized rainbow trout in the river. We definitely recommend the Fishin Hole if you love stream fishing and like to kick back, relax and listen to the river bubbling by. We will definitely be back!

Fantastic in Every Way!
We stayed for a week at The Fishin' Hole. It was absolutely the best! We have stayed other places in Red River, but this is where we will return! Location! Location! Location! The location on the river is outstanding and puts this property over-the-top. This is not a little, slow-moving stream. If the sound of water is what you're looking for, this is it. The back deck is where we spent most of our time. It is perfect for morning coffee, an afternoon nap, enjoying the peaceful sky at night, or watching it rain if you're lucky. We discussed going to Taos and doing other things, like even going into town, but decided we'd rather just stay on the deck! The cabin is located in the upper valley, which is the most peaceful and beautiful part of Red River. If you truly want to disconnect and relax, stay here. The cabin itself is great, too! There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms downstairs, plus two more queen/double beds upstairs in the loft (and a balcony!). The beds are comfortable. The kitchen is fully stocked. We brought some of our own kitchen gadgets, but really did not need them. We cooked a lot and had everything we needed. The owner, Spence, also owns the cabin next door. When he saw us on the deck, he came over and introduced himself. He is very, very nice and a great resource for all things Red River. He was not obtrusive at all, so no need to worry about the owner being so close! We thoroughly enjoyed his company and even knocked on his door to visit! The Fishin' Hole is where we will return for a relaxing peaceful time in Red River! We will be back!!

This was a great place to stay!
Right on the river, we caught trout out of the river using spinner bait, the kids enjoyed fishing there. Plenty of room. Not a far drive from town. Spence was a great host, really friendly and helpful. All in all it was a great stay.
