What the guest is saying is false. There is no "daily insurance". This is simply not true . There is one charge ($99) for insurance regardless of the length of stay or a refundable deposit. Costs are clearly shown before any reservation is made or any money paid. I know of no condos that do not require damage insurance or a deposit. I myself have rented multiple times on VRBO and never was able to do so without paying for insurance or making a deposit. I do not know why this guest would claim something that is not true. Note, that this guest had no criticism whatsoever about our condo or their experience.

Every once in a great while, an owner gets a guest like this. Someone who is upset that the garlic press was not up to their standards. I have never had to respond to a review; it was never necessary, but this one is a hatchet job that, intentionally or not, can devastate my ability to rent my home. The dishwasher works perfectly, and the top rack is not “broken.” There are no tears evident in the dining area chair covers. In the refrigerator, there is an inconsequential crack in the plastic slide out tray. The kitchen floor mat is not ”torn up.” Commode scrubbers are not replaced with a new one after every guest, so, of course, it is used. The paper towel dispenser has a spot of rust, normal for this wet climate; it is not ”nasty.” New patio furniture, chairs and chaise lounges, had been purchased just before Covid. The guest does not understand the weather conditions on the North Shore, where teak virtually immediately turns a color that the unenlightened might think is “ancient” and “moldy.” Regarding the wonderful plants on the lanai and atrium, one of us is a Master Gardener and many of these beautiful plants (palms, begonias, orchids, bromeliads, ornamental banana plant, and others) have been lovingly cared for for up to 30 years. I know of no other condo that has such a thriving botanical display. Regarding the outdoor tiles, the condo association is replacing all lanai and atria tiling. Currently, the condo is closed until July to allow this work to be done. Due to the paradise climate, plants like begonias start to grow between tiles very rapidly. A begonia is hardly a weed and as fast as they grow, they are pulled out periodically, which will not be necessary after the new tiles are installed. In anticipation of the work, the outside storage closet had to be emptied of supplies (e.g. new bathroom tiles) and had to be placed inside wherever there was room. Hence 2 flat boxes of new tiles in a cabinet under the cooktop, upon which the waffle maker was placed. We have been given many compliments over the years for the completeness of the kitchen. How many condos have a garlic press and a waffle maker to complain about? Incidentally, we have been here for 3 weeks and have yet to find a dull knife, bulbs that need replacement, and surprise, the cutting board was actually found in the kitchen where it has always been. The mattress has been used only intermittently for about 2 years. A new mattress, bed and side tables, in any case, will be delivered as the lanai tile work is done, ready for the next guest. What is accurate is that due to the condition of the condo left by the outgoing guests, the cleaning crew could not complete the cleaning in a timely fashion. This new cleaning service has been appropriately admonished to finish on time. I cannot explain the tone or content of this guest’s review. Sooner or later, it inexplicably happens to all VRBO owners, but thankfully guests like that are rare
