A one-bedroom on the upper floor of a four-unit house. It's bigger than the photos suggest.
Bedroom: a queen bed with a memory foam topper, and a walk-through closet with room to actually unpack.
Living room: large, with a sofa bed that sleeps two, a TV, a spot to work, and a mini-split for heat and AC.
Kitchen: stainless stove, fridge, microwave and dishwasher, with the basics for cooking.
Bathroom: shower-tub combo. Washer and dryer in the unit. A crib is available.
The apartment is on the upper floor, up one flight of stairs. A keypad smart lock opens the door with the personal code sent in your arrival message. Bags can be dropped from noon on arrival day. Three other apartments share the building, each with its own door.
Check-in is self-guided, so you can arrive on your own schedule. I'm a message away whenever you need anything during your stay.
The Williams Avenue corridor, seven minutes' walk west, is the daily-life strip: Change for a morning coffee, New Seasons for groceries (13 minutes), Eem when you want the best Thai barbecue in the city, Life of Pie for pizza, and The Box Social for a cocktail. Closer still, the MLK Street Food cart pod is four minutes away. Irving Park is a 10-minute walk for a run, Mississippi Avenue 17 for vintage shops and live music, and Alberta's murals and galleries 25.
Free street parking, no permits, no time limits, and reviewers say they always find a spot near the house.
Bus 6 runs down MLK two blocks away, bus 4 along Williams and Vancouver seven minutes' walk, both straight into downtown. By car, the Moda Center is 8 minutes, downtown 16 and PDX airport 18. Williams and Vancouver have proper bike lanes if you'd rather ride.
You're one of four apartments in the house, and the one across the hall is close enough that you'll occasionally hear a door or a conversation. Washcloths aren't supplied, towels are.
