The wife and I spent a few days in southern Illinois, hiking, herping, bird-watching, generally just getting away from work and the daily grind, and this place was a great stay. We weren't in the house very much, coming back in late afternoon after being out all day, but it's a great place for privacy and quiet. Very relaxing.The host offered quite simply the single greatest communication I've ever had from a cabin rental... he would get back to us with answers to our questions within minutes. Didn't expect that, and that alone makes this place worth getting. Also, he supplied us with plenty of bottled water to use, having suggested that the tap water (from well) might not taste good. This was very kind and appreciated. I'd definitely stay here again... the quiet I mentioned was fantastic, so if you're looking for peace and calmness (and to hear the orchestra of critters in the night) this is your place. (The only issue we had was the yard light, which is quite intense, but I'm well aware that no one else has had issues with it in their reviews, and we're used to black-out curtains in our bedroom. Small thing, and we simply ended up hanging some clothes over the window. It was, of course, actually nice to have it because otherwise you're pretty isolated out there... just mentioning it in the interest of thoroughness).Had no problems here at all. Wish I was there now.
