Bienvenue Ă Hotel Infestation: Featuring Cockroaches
We chose this hotel expecting a high-end, relaxing experience, and to be fair, the room looked modern and clean at first glance. That illusion ended the moment we returned late at night and were greeted by a large cockroach strolling casually under the toilet. Not quite the welcome we imagined after a long day. Understandably disturbed, we called reception. Someone did come to remove the cockroach that night, but the damage was done. We spent the rest of the night on edge, unable to sleep, constantly checking the walls and corners, wondering if there were more.
In the morning, we went to speak with the manager. The response? âGood newsâyou didnât find any new ones!â As if the absence of a second cockroach should be reassuring. To top it off, the manager floated the idea that we might have brought it with us⊠from Canada and that I am not a pest expert! Right, because Canada is apparently now exporting cockroaches to old French hotels via tourist luggage. Makes perfect sense.
There was no apology, no offer to move us or compensate for the situation, just dismissive comments and a refusal to take any real responsibility. Additionally, Expedia reached out to them a few times to provide a refund, but they refused.
If youâre looking for a stylish room with unexpected pest and a management team that treats hygiene issues as mildly amusing anecdotes, this place is perfect. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and book elsewhere!
