Elegant, typically Parisian apartment, easy access to all tourist highlights.
- Our apartment combines elegant period features - fine wooden floors and moulded ceilings - with discreet modern additions such as soundproof windows. It's a pleasure to wine and dine in our large living room, which looks out on a wide, tree-lined avenue and the new Sorbonne 3 campus designed by star architect Christian de Portzamparc. There are two comfortable bedrooms - if you're not an early riser the blackout curtain in bedroom 1 keeps early morning sunshine at bay. There are several good restaurants nearby. We have some excellent bakeries in the area, a small supermarket just opposite the building and an organic food store around the corner. Our kitchen is well equipped for those who enjoy cooking and relaxing at home after a busy day's sightseeing. Ours is a quiet area just 3-4' walk from Place de la Nation, where the 12th district borders the 11th and 20th. The metro station NATION gives access to lines 1, 2, 6, 9 & RER A, making it very easy to get to the most interesting tourist spots: line1 is direct to the Louvre, the Champs Elysées and is just 4 stops (roughly ten minutes) from the Marais area with its beautiful old buildings, the Place des Vosges and a multitude of trendy boutiques. Taking line 1 to "Tuileries" (9 stops, 15') on a fine day, you can walk through the Tuileries gardens and cross over the Seine to the Musée d'Orsay, with its magnificient Impressionist collections. Line 9 will bring you directly to the big department stores Galeries Lafayette and Printemps, and also close to the Paris Opera house. Line 2 will bring you close to Montmartre, the Sacré Coeur, the Moulin Rouge cabaret. The RER A is a direct 30' ride to Disneyland. You can also enjoy a stroll to the Bastille and Marais areas on the "coulée verte", an elevated walkway which inspired the New York Highline. The nearest entrance is a 5' walk from our building, and Place de la Bastille then just a pleasant15' stroll through this beautifully-kept garden walk. If you take it in the other direction it leads to the Bois de Vincennes, with it's lovely Parc Floral, a zoo and an excellent childrens' playground. We are a short bus ride from Père Lachaise cemetery (or 4 métro stops on line 2) where so many interesting historical figures are buried, including Chopin, Molière, Edith Piaf, 0scar Wilde, to name just a few from a long list. We could go on for hours, but the best thing is for you to come and stay at our place and enjoy exploring this wonderful city!
