First time to Cape San Blas and it was excellent. We had an issue with the fridge not cooling but Steve handled it perfectly. Bought a new one and had it delivered the next day which is a difficult thing to get done. We would definitely stay here again.

Helpful host - great property

Barrier Dunes is a wonderful little gated community with easy beach access and a private beach that allows dogs. It's like visiting Florida 40 years ago. We had a lovely stay, and found the place to be well maintained. The owner called to check on us, nd made sure everything was going well for us. Would definitely book again.

Stocked!

We have vrbo several times. This place was uber clean and stocked. We did have to bring our own beach chairs, but folks tear stuff up. Owner was Johnny on the Spot with communication. Place is much more modern than the pics appear. Give it a shot, you will not be disapppinted. Also has a padded bench in the window which a smaller person could sleep on.

The neighborhood was fantastic as always. Amenities are great. Distance to the sand is great! The property appeared clean and most was. Since this is a pet friendly property I would suggest cleaning the carpet on the stairs as there is a faint urine odor. Also when you pull out the couch bed there is pet fur and dirt so maybe the cleaners can get that cleaned out. Bathrooms, kitchen and bedrooms are clean. The floor needs a good deep clean maybe steam it and needs mopped a few times as the doors were pretty dirty. We understand it’s the beach and there is dirt and sand and it’s impossible to get it all. My only other suggestion is for families who cook more than going out like us is a large frying pan, a larger pasta pot and some baking sheets. Just do an updated kitchen inventory. We will always stay at barrier dunes and we would love to return to this unit!

Great getaway.

Property was very comfortable and the location was perfect. This unit had pretty much anything we needed to cook and eat with. Property owner was extremely easy to deal with and was available anytime I sent a message. Will definitely be booking through this owner and hopefully get the same property on our next visit to Port St Joe.

Great family vacation spot

Owner was very responsive, townhouse was very clean and steps from the boardwalk, location on the Cape was perfect. Less crowded/developed than other gulf coast areas but beautiful beaches and water. Sunsets were amazing from the beach. Close by trading post w/groceries, bait and tackle store, seafood market, ice cream, liquor, and a few restaurants gave us everything we needed with no extra developments that we didn’t want to be around. Very peaceful, kids could ride their bikes to the park, long bike trail, and ice cream stores, and plenty of space on the beach to find an open area to surf fish. It was exactly what we were looking for, will try to return again next year.

Maintenance past due

Thought we would enjoy one more night at the beach so we booked this condo last minute. My mistake. Couldn’t check in till 4 and it wasn’t ready then. Thought we would sit in balcony with our two year old grandson. He touched one of the rails and it wasn’t attached. He could have fallen off the second floor. Thankfully I always had a hand on him. Outdated and needs maintenance. Do not recommend.

Perfect family getaway

The condo could not be more perfectly located— overlooking an adorable turtle pond, the beach just steps away, the state park just around the corner, and in between the two adorable towns of Port St. Joe and Apalachicola. Host was kind and responsive. Would love to visit again.

We really enjoyed our stay at this property. It had all of the necessities plus a few extra things that were just nice to have. It is right across from a short path to the beach and the pool is just a little walk down the road. The beach and the water are very nice. We also enjoyed the little pond out back. The people were very friendly. We eould definitely rent this property again!

The location of the condo is great. Short walk to beach/pool. However, the property really needs some attention paid to it. Simple things like sweeping/blowing the parking area, washing/painting door and interior. Kitchen/bath need updating but are adequate. Just needs a bit of attention.

Great family trip!

Loved that the property was so close to the ocean! Great view of gulf from decks and nice view of the pond and fountain! We went back and forth from the beach to the pool with our kids multiple times a day- the proximity to the those two things was great- Kids wanted to go back for snacks and get a break from the sun then back to playing!!!

Great condo complex , pool and beach access nice . Our unit not so great , deck wood needs cleaning , Black mole on both decks. Master BR mini blinds over tub had black mold too . Living room furniture very uncomfortable. Bedrooms nice , good mattress , great large TV in living room . This place great needs a good cleaning and TLC.

This is a nice place but needs updating. The screen doors to the decks are about to fall off. The dishwasher was not working well. Everything else was ok but could use some up to date bedding and decor. I would stay there again.

This property is awesome! The location is great and the condo was very comfy. Balconies have great views and kitchen was adequate. Could have used a few mixing bowls and a nice skillet pan but otherwise absolutely perfect! Master bedroom suite was super comfy and bed was great. Second bed mattress could use an upgrade but overall definitely looking forward to staying here again. Plenty of towels and linens ! Great condo for a family!

Awesome location to beach and pool

We wanted to stay longer even after being there 12 nights. Very close to beach pool and beach. We had a few things that we did not like. I let the property owner know after first night. Main issues were couch and other furniture extremely uncomfortable and barely room for 4 to sit and watch tv comfortably. Both beds were uncomfortable. We like to cook. The kitchen was missing items. I actually bought some stuff and brought it home. Owner did not think any of this was an issue and he told me his unit was better than most at barrier dunes. It was not horrible, but the other 3 townhouses we have stayed there were more comfortable but not as close to beach. The other thing was the master shower was unusable due to a leak. He had someone lined up to go through ceiling in kitchen to repair. We really did not want to deal the mess or hassle & tentative covid 19 exposure. so we declined the repair. It was a pain in the butt to only have 1 shower though. We would stay there again due to location. I am not sure my husband would agree though. He was pretty unhappy about the beds.

We are a family of four with two kids (3 and 8 who can still sleep in the same bed), this condo worked perfectly for us. It is such a short walk to the beach, I counted 130 adult steps to the sand. The kitchen was adequately equipped, although there is inevitably something that is needed which is not available (this trip it was a vegetable peeler), we were able to prepare and consume all of our meals. (We brought dish soap, and dishwasher pods and extra TP with us since while reading many reviews for Barrier Dunes we noted that those items were often in short supply. What we liked about this particular unit was that it overlooks the center pond, and the kids enjoyed watching the turtles swim about, and it is close to the fountain, which provides for a nice bit of background noise while sitting on the deck for dinner. There is a tiny peek-a-boo view of the water from the decks (as seen in the pictures) but if you really want to view the ocean, walk those 130 steps. For those unfamiliar with Cape San Blas, or Barrier Dunes in particular this is a great location and community. There are 2 pools, one of them is beachside, albethey somewhat small, they do provide an alternative to the ocean. This is very important, since there were “double red flags” for three days of this visit, which meant that, although it was a perfect beach day in that it was sunny and 90 degrees out, the water had currents which were too strong from the storms off shore, and the undercurrents and rip tides could sweep away an adult man quickly and ferociously. Upon our arrival to the beach there were volunteer firemen patrolling the beach with blow horns engaging with people and warning them that “knee deeps is too deep”, and that someone had died from drowning the week prior to our stay, and someone in Mexico Beach not far up the coast had died that week as well. With the warnings ringing in our ears, the pool was a great “Plan B”. Of course with dogs and campfires being permissible on the beach an amazing vibe is created!
