Das Freehand Hotel liegt super in der 23igsten. Es hat einige Kaffees und Imbisse drum herum. Man hat die Subway direkt gegenüber und kommt auch zu Fuß schnell zu den üblichen Sightseeing Spots. Das Hotel selber ist super stylisch, die Zimmer sind groß und es gibt genügend Steckdosen. Das Bett ist bequem und das Bad toll ! Vor allem die Dusche. Das Personal war super freundlich und es gab jeden Tag Wasser fürs Zimmer. Würde es jedem empfehlen, der nicht direkt im Zentrum wohnen möchte und trotzdem schnell zu allen Spots mag. Ich komme wieder!!

Die Lage des Hotels ist super und das Hotel hat einen coolen Vibe. Wer New York zu Fuß erkunden möchte und es “hip” mag, macht sicher nichts falsch. Unser Zimmer erfüllte wirklich jedes Klischee vom düstereren, kleinen überteuerten New Yorker Hotelzimmer. Unser Zimmer war wirklich furchtbar eng und durch das kleine Fenster und den dunklen Teppich sehr duster, man konnte sich zu zweit kaum darin bewegen. Das Bad war zwar sehr stylisch und geschmackvoll eingerichtet, aber ebenfalls sehr beengend. Grundsätzlich erwartet man in NYC nichts anderes und kann damit Leben, da man eh kaum Zeit auf den Zimmer verbringt, aber der Preis ist für das was das Hotel bzw. das Zimmer bietet einfach viel zu hoch! Da wir im Anschluss an unseren Besuch im Freehand noch 5 Tage in einem anderen Hotel in derselben Preiskategorie und ähnlich guter Lage waren, haben wir den direkten Vergleich. Dort haben wir für dasselbe Geld ein großes helles Zimmer mit Skyline View bekommen. Fazit: Lage und vibe super, aber Preis-Leistung stimmt nicht.

The hotel and the staff were nice. The only problem was that our lights in the room didn’t work. We were just very busy and we didn’t call for maintenance. However, I think that the rooms should be checked before guests check in.

The Freehand is in a convenient area to walk to many destinations and its also only one block from a subway line. The staff was all courteous and answered any questions we had. The rooftop bar is a nice option to spend time with a group. We also enjoyed the unique art and furniture in our room and the charm of the old renovated public areas.

Cute hotel with tiny rooms. Perfect for the price if you’re traveling solo or with a partner and don’t plan on spending too much time indoors. Not a bad walk from Penn station and so close to Union Square.

Expedia or this hotel should have told us that the city was working on Lexington Ave at night and that the road was covered with metal planks that when cars and trucks drove over the planks, the noise created was unbearable. Sleeping was impossible.

Elevators are a little slow, but it is an older building and part of the aesthetic. The water in the restroom had a weird smell but nothing too overpowering; just when in the restroom. Staff are friendly, however, I called and left 2 or 3 voicemails trying to confirm my booking but no answer. Overall great stay.

Lights in the room flickered, room was not well cleaned, with previous occupants belongings under and behind the beds, and broken glass left out for hours in a common lounge.

Fun vibe, nice coffee table books in the room, cheap and easy food options right by hotel, also very nice restaurant in the hotel; rooftop bar was less exciting than they thought it was.

This hotel is a dump. Heat didn't work in the room, so they gave us a space heater. The room was advertised at 375 sq. ft. ("Corner King") and was maybe 200 sq. ft. at best. The front desk would do nothing, said to complain to the manager via e-mail which I did, and she never responded. No dresser or drawers for clothes (in an upgraded room!) The bathroom smaller than a closet. STAY AWAY!!!
