A view on the Castle of Volterraio with in the back Portoferraio. The Castle of Volterraio dates back to about the year 1000. It was made bigger and stronger between 1281 and 1440 by the Pisans who used it solely as a military defence and is one of the few fortresses in Elba that the Turkish pirates never managed to enter, despite their numerous and frequent raids on the Island In 1798, French troops based in Portoferraio further strengthened the stronghold, but a civic uprising half-destroyed the complex, and from that moment it was definitively abandoned. It has been recently restored and can now be visited and after the visit, one can enjoy the beautiful view on Elba.

Die Lage der Unterkunft ist gut. Sämtliche Sehenswürdigkeiten sind fußläufig erreichbar. Die Sauberkeit könnte besser sein. Insbesondere das Bad hat eine Grundreinigung nötig. Leider haben wir Zahnseide und Haare der vorherigen Gäste vorgefunden. Im Schlafzimmer war es staubig. Der Service an der Rezeption war gut. Die Damen und Herren sind sehr hilfsbereit und hatten gute Tipps für die Umgebung. Die Zimmer sind sehr hellhörig. Insgesamt ist das Hotel zu empfehlen, wenn man nicht sehr zimperlich ist.

Das Hotel Delle Civette überzeugt auf ganzer Linie! Das Personal ist außerordentlich freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Frühstück bietet eine große Auswahl und der Service ist wirklich erstklassig. Die Zimmer sind sauber, komfortabel und geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Zudem liegt das Hotel in einer ruhigen Seitenstraße, was für Rom wirklich angenehm ist. Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen und können das Hotel nur weiterempfehlen!
