The hotel hallways smelled strongly of bleach. Enough to make a 4-year-old comment. The room was big, but the furniture was worn, broken, in some areas, dirty. A vent in the bathtub area was crusted with sticky dust and rust. The water came out of the shower spout a yellow color. The sink in the kitchen area would not drain; I thought it was the drain stop. I had to pry the stop from the drain because it was rusted in place. We requested 4 extra pillows for the sofa bed. They would only bring 3 because there was already one extra in the room. We asked for extra towels they never came. No one warned us the pool was being repaired; a pool alternative wasn't offered. The beach was littered with trash. While I understand that you can't precisely clean sand, this was filthy. Cigarette butts, bottles, plastic wrappers, bottle caps, and all types of trash from the day before. This was all inside and around the cabana we rented for the day. In the hotel's beach area, homeless people wandered around and went through unattended belongings. The hotel office staff that we encountered at the elevator were incredibly rude. The guys caring for the beach chairs and towels were the most informative, helpful, and pleasant. Even the construction workers you encountered on your way to the beach were nicer than most hotel staff. My favorite part was calling the front desk and inquiring about room service. They said yes, we have room service
