House is convenient to ski slope and shuttle bus. It is old but refurbished, clean and warm with large radiators and wood burning stove.
House has 2 bathrooms. Downstairs shower was cold, reported this to owner right away. Two sinks also leaked. He said plumber would come next day and could I let him in? Yes, I would, but no plumber came until I was going home on the 5th day. All week our family of 10 shared shower upstairs since only cold water downstairs. Towel rack holds 5 towels; only 6 bath towels were provided. No racks in downstairs bathroom. One bed was unmade with no sheets set out for us.
Booked property July 11 for Christmas week and paid in full. November 30 owner asked for more money for security deposit, which was to be paid in 3 days. Owner stated: “this will only be a minor inconvenience” (for me!). My deposit was sent in 3 days as requested.
A week before arrival rules were stated: no shoes in house, soft soapstone counters so don’t put anything hard on them, take all trash with you, remove bedding. We covered counters with our tablecloths and followed rules.
Checked out December 30. We cleaned and vacuumed property. Nothing scratched or broken. Housekeeper was there to verify as I was leaving.
On January 3, I asked owner to release security deposit. Asked owner 5 times until January 12 with no refund. Called VRBO at owner’s suggestion and funds were released January 12 after VRBO interceded for us.
